AMD asks mobo makers to remove OC options for 5800X3D

I think the big problem is the Amazon listing which is AMD 5800… or AMD 5800…

Where are you seeing Amazon mislabel the X3D without the last two letters? I can only see the original model on their site so far, and both listings I see show the 4.7 clock speed.

So when some motherboard manufacturer pumps 1.4V+ and kills the CPU the consumer will be SOL? It's fairly common to see higher voltages being applied with factory default settings.

Thats how they got best Mobo reviews. They'd juice the CPU with voltage, then tweak the components on the FSB to be like 133.9mhz or some shit which would give them like a 50mhz clock advantage vs the competition. Back when Mobo reviews were a thing.

It was a joke, but Amazon always truncates the important parts for most things I order. So I have to open things and really check the description.

Amazon is bad with that anyway, the listing for the 10980xe when it came out would send you a 10920x even though the listing itself was correct, eventually they relisted the 10980xe with a new product page. The worst part is people like myself that bought it originally and left a review stating it was the wrong product sent they would delete it.

Yeah, I always scour product pages on Amazon to be sure I'm getting the right thing. If it's not clear, I don't even bother. I get it somewhere else.

FWIW, I saw both 3800 and 3800XT listings and the names were early enough to be clear which was which.

There’s lots that are bang on, and lots that aren’t, it really just comes down to how direct the poster is on the item.

I very rarely purchase computer parts from Amazon so it’s mostly printer components and weird odds and ends my actual suppliers just don’t carry.
