Hey guys,

Need a recommendation.
I currently use Energy RC-10 as bookshelf speakers and I have Sennheiser HD 650's as my headphones. I have them going through a Pioneer Receiver.

I recently moved though and the Receiver is really impractical. I desperately need something smaller. Is their an amp/dac that has headphone and speaker outputs?

I am not picky on price as long as it's on crazy. I've seen recommendations for the CEntrance DACmini PX before but they are hard to locate.

ummm... you realize that D1 isn't a power amplifier right... it has variable rca outputs.. so you need something to drive the speakers or you need to replace the energy bookshelf speakers with some powered speakers ... instead of passives.


i don't think this product is going to meet you requirements really at all... personally.. can someone chime in to if that thing can really handle HD650s even?
 
How much are you willing to pay for compactness? I know of this, but I feel like it's overpriced. That said, it does have the binding posts on the back for powering passive speakers and the powered headphone jack on the front. Multiple options for input and is indeed a USB dac as well.

umm.. so that topping isn't going to be all that great with those headphone either really... it really does not have the headphone amp to handle those HD650's properly at all.

another option Schiit Modi2/magni2 and then a little T-amp (maybe TPA3116 based SMSL SA-60 for example but this would involve 3 separate (small however boxes to deal with.)

You could even assemble it yourself. It'd be really minimalistic if that is what you mean by 'smaller'.
They don't require a lot of additional components, and you can integrate a headphone amplifier in there as well (heck, an OPA2134 based CMOy is like 3 parts) if you have symmetric power.
Just a thought. It's on my to-do list so I thought I'd pop that in.

the sound is good, not as good as my speakers which are considered high end.

haven't tried the headphones(superlux hd668B) direct to an amped source yet and only 15hrs on them 75-100 hrs for full break in.

I got a Parasound Z-Amp V3, fairly nice power and has a fairly decent headphone output people say. Its fairly small got a used one under $150 ebay, probably easily find one
