Was trying to find some thoughts on the Altec Lansing FX5051 speakers, but couldn't really find any.

I saw a few brief reviews on the internet that said there was a hiss when connected through USB, but the hiss disappeared when using direct connections. Can anyone confirm this?

I would be very interested to hear thoughts on the sound quality of these, as they look quite stylish, and aren't badly priced.

Have left this a few weeks - has anyone managed to get a set of these?

If not I'll give them a try and post my findings on here. They have a few good reviews on newegg, so they seem pretty good value.

Wow thanks for those reviews. At first glance, it looks like the speakers are terrible.

However, I've opened up each review, and the results are different:

Techloop: 9.5 / 10 - 'The overall sound quality of the FX5051 is sure to please'

CDRInfo: 'This is just an amazing sound system'

ThinkComputers: 10 / 10 - 'If I were to suggest a PC speaker system for anyone this would be it! - Recommended Award'

XYZ Computing: 'In the FX5051 Altec Lansing has a very nice speaker system. It is compact, performed well, and looks cool so in many ways it is a solid product'

Everything USB: 'Simply put, I was blown away. '

The only negative review I saw was because they were reviewing them for different purposes in my opionion (e.g. home theater).

It's also worth saying that a lot of reviews are revewing them with a connection through USB. I will be using them with an X-Fi, so I think these will sound even more amazing. I am definitely going to give these a try.

Again, thanks for those links.
