I was originally going to wc only my x1900xt but I decided to wc my cpu as well

Acetal Version MAZE4GPU got it, should be shipped soon CHECK
DD Double Heater Core with Fittings or autozone heatercore
ClearFlex 60 Tubing 1/2" 10'
8x Plastic Snap Tubing Clamps
Polypropylene "T"
DD Brass Fillport
Reccomend a good pump? like it to be quiet around 32dba max

I'd like to get a decent cpu waterblock I'm buying mostly used stuff so whats pretty good? *holding off unless I can find a decent deal on a good Oc'ing chip, mine sux lol

I'd recommend the Storm for best performance, or the TDX for the best price/performance. I use the TDX as, frankly, I think it looks prettier and performs almost a nice.

I believe on the DD store that there's a Storm + DD5 pump combo for about 87$, which is further reduced by the special discount code (that I can't remember).

Either go for the Laing with the modded alphacool top, or the D5 series pumps (DD5 or Swiftech MCP655).

I also recommend the 7/16" masterkleer tubing over the stuff you chose as it is VERY leak resistant and a hell of a lot cheaper ;).

I recommend you to get Swiftech MCR-220 Radiator rather than a heatcore.

any reason why? I've heard from many the HC performs well and the biggest factor for me is it is CHEAP. Btw what kind of temps can I xpect?

I currently get 36/44C @1.6V a64 venice with a zalman 9500, with ambient temps around 30C according to mobo. It would be awesome if I can get 36C for load lol

Unfortunately, dangerden doesn't sell the Storm.

I believe you are refering to the TDX/D5 combo for $107. Back when the PAGLAN06 coupon code worked, you could take 20% off of any purchase at dangerden. It doesn't work anymore. But the TDX/D5 combo is still one of the best values out there for anyone looking to put together a (close to) top performing loop on a budget.

well my budget is around $100 for everything haha

I got a DD maze4 acetyl GPU block for 20 bux already, if I get a heatercore at autozone thats around another 20. Eclipse has told me I wouldn't need fittings cuz the HC's tubes are 1/2" anyways.

i got a black ice triple rad here on the forum for 30 w/ fittings

it's nice bec it already has mounting holes and a small (abou 1/4") shroud/plenum (sp?) to kill the fans dead spots...

check my rig if you wish

I'm trying to go for cheap as possible, should i jsut buy the heatercore from autozone? Its 18bux... and is it true for 1/2" i don't need to get fittings it should just work on its tubes? I could care less about mountings etc, I can fabricate those with junk I have in my garage.

So question is get a fitted heatercore on [H] for 30ish shipped or 18 heatercore from autozone and try fitting it without fittings or jb weld fittings on?

dont jb weld it, most likely leak. If autozone has one in stock you can look at and if both fittings are 1/2" you can probally just warm the tubing in hot water and slip em on, however most heater cores have one tube larger than the other and it might be a fit problem. So if you cant verify the auto parts store part and do not have the ability/tools to remove and solder on your own fittings to the heater core from the parts store I would suggest then buying a rad with the fittings. Your grief factor reduction will be well worth the extra $10.

Alright for a pump would this suffice for an external setup wc pump? do either of these have enough head power for a cpu and gpu block?

Hydor SELTZ L35 vs Eheim 1250 Pump vs Danger Den DD12V-D5

The Danger Den pump has enough power for a CPU, NB and dual GPU's ;).

It's also 12v, and fairly compact.

I may be getting a hydro L35 for 30 bux shipped, how are these? Are they any loud? They seem powerful enough to cool CPU,gpu,nb.

edit I'd like reliability and quiet. How are the Eheims? and the L35 has massive flow rate while the eheims have much lower, does this affect cooling in anyway?

id take the eheim over the hydor any day, eheims are silent and last almost forever where as hydors are noisy and unreliable

how unreliable? and how noisy? If its under 32Dba I could care less. I kinda guessed Eheims were the higher quality pumps, but they are expensive and they have a lower flow rate. I'm getting this hydor L35 for less than $30, is that a good deal or should I dish out more and get a new Eheim or D5? I'm trying to keep my entire build under $100 and so far its on it's way there.

I'd avoid the Hydor. Mine was unreliable as hell. leaked, cracked, loud too. I've had good experiences with the aquaxtreme 50z or the eheim 1250.

hmmm I'm so tempted to get this Hydor cuz I'm getting literally for around $20 shipped... And the Eheim or DD D5 is gonna cost me 2x that if not more.

you get what you pay for

i got a D5 for $45 shipped (Hardform FS thread) back in the day .. and it's been AWSOME...

w/ watercooling the performance is only as good as the worst part in the loop .. you certainly don't want that to be the pump ... which in my humble opinion is the most important part...

cheers,

mal
