Almost cried while watching this...

With the price of flash now-a-days, consoles need to go back to cartridges. The little credit card sized cartridges like on the TurboGrafx 16 could store 16GB today for just a couple bucks. Bigger catridges would raise the cost of the game a couple bucks. Then we could save to the game itself again...and it wouldn't be volatile like the old NES/SNES games.

Also, WTF, no VMU?? The VMU was one of the coolest additions I have ever seen on a console. It was gimmicky sure, but it was amazingly awesome too.

I always said they should make games put them on flash discs, then just provide the "key" that is activated at time of purchase, would be far faster then any disc and could also be used to speed the installs.

Dream cast was awesome, as was 3DO in my opinion, but there is a reason why they didn't survive, my favorite games series of all time, Final Fantasy(Nintendo of course) Shining Force(sega) and Legand of Legaia(PS) I still play to this day. Shame they cannot focus on epic story lines and seemless play like the once used to.

Doesn't matter how cheap or how big the size of flash memory is. It just doesn't have a way to stream the data fast enough.

I think Sega waited too long to bring out a new console and when they did Sony launched the Playstation like a year later and it got really popular because the Sony name. Apparently the Dreamcast was doing pretty good before the Playstation came along.

Anyways I always fantasized about Valve teaming up with Sega for a new console with it centered around steam but Valve is going with the steam box.

Accessing data out of a flash chip is generally much faster than off a Blu-ray disc. A 6x blu-ray drive (PS4 - PS3 is only a 2x drive) has a max read speed of 27 MB/s and USB flash drives can read at over 60 MB/s.

I would buy that in a heartbeat! I still play my launch Dreamcast often. Need a new CRT TV to play my light gun games.

Get a CRT with at least 480p capability and use a VGA to component adapter.

Wow, talk about lame ass writing.

I hate to admit it but i agree with this. Pretty shit-tier writing. Rest was amazing though... actually made me feel hopeful and excited.

Much lower latency as well for scene transitions.

The first one sucked ass which is why they didn't bother with a second one.

I'm kidding, I miss my Dreamcast :(

PS3 has 2x blu ray with the inner rings being somewhere in the 0.78-1.7x from what I recall however, PS4 will have a 6x Blu-ray drive speed rating with 6x on the outer half with somewhere between 3.3x and 6x on the inner rings of the disc.

PS2 btw not PS, and yeh they were doing generally quite well until sony announced PS2/launched then sega sales fell through the floor, dream cast was being sold up until 2001 in NA(launched in 1999 which is terrible short run) Europe was 2002, however Japan was 2007 for the console and new games.

I love my Dreamcast (we have too, actually), but I agree. Some of the sentences/phrases were beyond cheesy. With that said, I always hoped for a Dreamcast 2, but with how things ended, I knew it wouldn't happen. Such a great system though.

The Dreamcast was a great console, but I'm glad there isn't another one. I hate having to buy every console to keep from missing out on great exclusives. Quite frankly, I wish Nintendo would follow suit and stop making hardware. I probably won't ever own a Wii U, and I know I'm missing out on some solid Mario because of it.

DC via VGA looks amazing on a HiDef TV and if you upconvert to 1080p even better...

Value did make Half-Life for the dreamcast it was canned when the console was but game was 100% basically finished you can find it online to play.
