Not to shabby of a deal geeks.com has the Aurora R3 i7 2600, 580gtx, 8gb ram system for 1279.99 - 10% (TECHBARGAINS) ???
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=AURORA-R3-I734-R&cat=SYS

Almost less than cost to build from scratch, seeing as the 580gtx 1.5 gb is 400 AR and the 2600 is 299 at the egg around... oh and I think its water cooled for the cpu as well too.

Shipping is $67 in TX
Total for me 1279.99 -10% + 67 S&H = $1219

seems like a really good price. I had an alienware once, a long long time ago :)

Can you really complain for that price? It's warranteed anyway. Dell must have really helped Alienware bring down the price for its lower tier products.

the 525w on that one is probably actually a 525w. not some el cheapo 525w from bestbuy that is a remarked 400w unit.

This is the PSU
alienwarepsu523.jpg

2600k $315
HSF $30
gtx 580 $470
p67 mobo $140
8GB DDR3 $35
Win7 Home $70
dvdrw $30
1tb wd black $70
600 watt psu $70
case $100

$1330

You can fine tune this a little more. Get a cheaper case, skip the OS, find a burner on sale for $5-10 less, etc. But over all it looks like that Alienware is priced fairly competitive to a DIY rig.

based on the sticker, i wouldn't be too concerned about the psu. 500w on the 12v rails and the 80+ silver rating should quell most worries.

sure sometimes stickers can be misleading, but this psu isn't being marketed to anyone so there's little incentive to lie about specs.

it's a 2600 not 2600K, I'll never understand why they bother with liquid cooling on something you can't even OC. The Mobo is probably some cheapor microatx board. Decent deal if you can't build one yourself, not so hot if you can.

I wonder if these guys bought up a whole bunch of the $800 systems from Dell Outlets and are reselling them @ 50% margin

This...Not overclocking on sandy bridge is a crime
