AIW X800XT AGP problems

I bought this card new about three months ago and now I cannot get the tv part of it to work. I have tried WinXP SP1a and SP2. I have also tried the latest Cat drivers and MMC 9.08. The AIW configuration utility reports that:
1. DX is not installed correctly.
2. I do not have a Radeon chip.
3. Capture device drivers not installed.

I have tried DX9b, DX9c and the latest DX9c from MS. I'm beginning to wonder if the card has taken a dump on me. :mad: The nonworking items shown in the device manager all report a Code 10. Has anyone had this problem before ? I am so close to switching to nVidia with a seperate TV card.

I think you need to install/reinstall the "WDM" drivers including the normal drivers. plus use driver cleaners beforehand.
 
I've done four fresh XP installs today with the same problem every time. I'll see if I can get the ATI uninstaller and try again.

which driver did you install? just the drivers and catalyst? try the "WDM Integrated Driver Only" drivers if you haven't.

thats the same thing that happened to me when I only installed the "Display Drivers Only".
 
I installed all the drivers from the install CD except the crappy Cat Control Center stuff.

The drivers from the CD show as version 8.083-041207a-020023C-ATI. No Cat # of any kind in the Display Properties. I have tried the latest cat drivers with CCC and the problem was still there. I'm downloading MMC 9.06-1 and the Cat 5.11 with CP along with all the other goodies.

the "all inclusive" driver set includes the WDM drivers. That should work.. or you can download the WDM individually. These are different than the normal drivers.
 
I used the uninstaller and then installed the Cat 5.11 with CP along with all the MMC 9.06-1 stuff. There are three items with the yellow exclamation point on them. The only things installed are: XP with SP1a and SP2, Audigy2 drivers, Cat 5.11 and MMC 9.06-1. No other software is installed. I'm beginning to think the TV capture has died on the card yet XP picks it up in the device manager.

ATI tech support responded and said to do as you told me to do. I'm waiting for another response from them because the problem is still there after uninstalling and installing each set of drivers. I'm surprised that they responded this late on a Sunday night.

I don't think you are truly getting what I am saying. The drivers you installed don't include the "WDM Drivers" To get AIW's working correctly... you need Cat's, the MMC, "and" WDM Drivers. Cat's for your 2D/3D drivers, MMC to control TV functions on the card, and WDM drivers to add TV support.

I can't link you directly to the drivers you need because ATI has some anti-leech going on.. but go back to the driver page and look for something that says "WDM Drivers Only" under the "low-bandwidth section". Everything should start detecting after you install them.
 
I will look one last time. The Cat 5.11drivers did have the WDM drivers included. Downloading the WDM drivers now.

It was just under 4 megs. The install said they were WDM NSP drivers. Grrrrrrrrrrrr . . . still not working.
 
can you try it in another computer? I still think it's os / driver related. maybe something got hosed in the registry.
 
I gave up for the night. After installing the WDM drivers, it sh!t a BSOD on reboot. I'll try it on two other comps tomorrow. The comp it's in now has an ASUS K8N-E Deluxe. I have an 8RDA+ and 8RDA3+ that I can try it on. The 8RDA+ currently has an ATI Rad 8500 in it. I'll post back tomorrow evening. I checked and found that I purchased the card Nov 11 2005 from Circuit City. It's been over two months, so I'll have to RMA it through ATI if it's screwed.
 
*Update*
I installed the card on an 8RDA3+ comp and everything is working. I am confused as to why it refuses to work on the ASUS K8N-E Deluxe comp. The 8RDA3+ comp has XP Pro SP1 and DX9c. I used the original ATI drivers from the install CD.
 
Give this a shot.

ATI X800XT AIW Directions

1. Start/Control Panel/add remove programs Delete all ATI programs.
2. C:\ATI - Remove this folder.
3. Install Display drivers 5.11.
4. Install WDM Drivers 5.11.
5. Install ATI Contrl Panel 5.11.
6 Install ATI Media Center 9.08 (But just select TV and FM and ignore no UCI message).
7. Go to start menu,start up and setup tv and fm.
8. Install Remoter Wonder 3.01.0.0.
9. Restart system.
10. Plug in remote wonder to usb port and let it detect.
11. Restart system then go to start menu and start up remote wonder and set up any options.
12. Install Ati tool if you want to monitor temps overclock and a few other options.

**Note: CCC 5.11 can be installed also. Kind of bloated and the Control Panel will do almost the same thing.

**Note: If you have Radlinker installed, it will cause the CCC to reboot your system if you right click on desktop/properties/setting/advanced. If you use CCC, you need to uninstall the Radlinker program.
 
I don't plan to use CCC or Radlinker. The card worked with the original drivers and MMC 9.03. I do not like MMC 9.08. I installed the card on the Epox system and it worked fine with the original drivers/software from the ATI CD. I just got home and I am going to try and get it working. It worked before, so it has to work again. :D

Grrrrrr . . . . I noticed that my 8RDA+ comp has a few bloated caps. I had it repaired under warranty about two years ago. Looks like I'll have to do it myself with good caps. Fortunately it's still folding without any problems. :)
 
*Update*
The card is bad. I stopped at CompUSA and bought another one and it works fine. ATI has been worthless with tech support. They keep responding with links to drivers, how to install and how to uninstall. :rolleyes:
