just curious to see what the majority of the people are using to this day.

AGP or PCI-E setups?

-as for me, I'm still using my soft-modded X800 XT PE card but I was wondering if it'd be worth switching over to PCI-E form and get something like the X800 XL?
 
That seems like it would be a step down in performance.
Here are the numbers from ATI's product comparison.

As you can see the X800 XL falls somewhere between the X800 Pro and the X800 XT.

I have all AGP PC's and videocards right now, so it will take a double upgrade (I usually don't upgrade Mobo's and Videocards at the same time) to get me to change, and considering the multi-core 939's that were just announced chances are I will be sticking with my current 939 Mobo for another 1.5 to 2 years.

So chances are good there will be no PCI-Express for me for a long time.

Ya, but it's also $100 less! :p Not to mention you should still be able to run everything @ max res, with a little overclocking.
 
I am waiting to do a total upgrade. I want to wait until I can get a PCI-E sound card and a dual core chip. I just hope I can force myself to wait that long.
 
agp, although i'm sure depending on what the market looks like in 6 months or so i may be using pci-e.
 
I'm using AGP at the moment but i'll be switching to PCI-E as soon as one of my three ATI PCI-E cards actually ship and get here.

I've got everything installed in my new Praetorian except for the video card.

* i dont think the bandwidth provided by this interface is being fully utilized by todays games. I simply went with PCIe because I was already upgrading to a 939 socket mobo and the asus a9n-sli fit that category.
 
The poll would have been more interesting with 3 options:

less than 8 month old motherboard/system w/ AGP video card
over 8 month old motherboard/system w/ AGP video card
PCI-E video card

Then you could see how video is trending. I chose 8 months because that's when PCI-E boards became available. IMO, the PCI-E adoption rate in the last 8 months has been very good.
 
Still using the lovely AGP 8x of course =). Do you think they are going to eventually drown out us AGP users and eventually force us into PCI-E, or do you think that we have quite a while before PCI-E takes over and what not?

I'm kinda thinking that it'll be a while before I migrate. AGP still shows some impressive performance when compared side to side with PCI-E, so I see no reason to make the jump. Does everything I need it to do still. :D

9800 XT pro..AGP.
The games I play look awsome on my system, I don't see any reason to upgrade.

Untill I find/play a game that needs more power, Im saving my money
 
I must say, Im suprised at the results. At just a little more than a 2-1 advantage for AGP, its not near as much as I would have thought. Will be interesting to see what it is in a few months. After more people jump on the XL bandwagaon, and as the GT&Ultras continue to fall in price after being well above MSRP for months. You can get either for just a little above MSRP today.

X850XT/PE here.

Glad to see this poll.

Currently 9800XT / AGP 8X. I'm wanting to upgrade my card, but there isn't allot of good choices at the moment.

I was glad Crosshairs posted that link. I hope ATI comes through for some AGP owners who want to upgrade to faster VPU's w/o a MOBO/CPU upgrade required.

I think there is still a strong market out there for the AGP base. Just because PC manufacturers have all gone that way, many (if not most) hard core gamers build thier own PC's anyways - and many have decent processors without a great upgrade choice in VPU.

I've read that the X850XTPE was going to be AGP but I haven't seen any.

They havent bridged it over yet. I hope the X800XL gets bridged but I doubt it.
Also I am using AGP.

The one problem with trying to see trends from these polls is that only the kind of people who regularly visit places like the hardocp forums end up responding, and we are a seriously "latest and greatest" bunch. Our responses only have a vague resemblance ot the likely response of the rest of the world.
 
PCI Express 6600 GT (SLI)

Although my Graphics drivers are corrupted, or it is a faulty card.

Can't say I'm shocked for the results either.

Yes, only [H] visitors will vote, but my point was to improve the value of the data the best under these conditions. As you can see above from responses a few are not the "latest" OR "greatest" types.

If this were a poll with 2 options (x800/6800) you might have a point.
 
I've got a 5700U with a Mobile AXP. I'm waiting on Dual core A64's and for some bugs to get worked out of SLI (but mostly dual cored A64s) before I upgrade.
