i am currently in the process of building a gaming/multimedia pc. so far i have the Gigabyte Z68xp-ud4 ,i7 2600k, corsair tx750m, WD Black 1tb, and 600t case so far . going to pick up an 580 once i find some good deals. i am planning to hook up the computer with a monitor and a 3dtv. the only parts im stuck on getting right now is:

Blu ray drive- i want a solid internal drive that i would be able to watch 3D blu rays on.(price doesn't matter.) what's good? ;)

RAM. Is 16gb too much? what kind of brand/speed do you guys suggest? for gaming and editing. price limit 100

Heatsink: should i go for the h100 or just air cool? i am planning to overclock my processor. but nothing too crazy.

Optional:
SSD should i throw in a few extra bucks for an SSD? installing windows into the ssd and use my 1tb as storage? if so, what brand is good?

thanks! :)

Blu-ray drive: N/A.

RAM: Depends on what kind of editing you're doing. But considering the low price of RAM, even if you don't use all of it now, I'd still recommend getting 16GB of RAM if you can afford it. I recommend this set:
$45 - G.Skill Sniper F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600 RAM

Heatsink: H100 if you can afford it, Air-cooling if you can't. Personally I'd recommend air-cooling:
$26 - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus HSF for LGA 1366 and LGA 1156
$39 - Corsair A70 120mm HSF
$70 - Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B CPU Cooler

SSD: Definitely get a SSD. It makes the biggest difference in a PC. I recommend the Crucial m4 SSDs:
$115 - Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 2.5" 64GB SSD
$202 - Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB SSD
$380 - Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2 2.5" 256GB SSD

Actually, you'd be much better off with a completely separate, TV-based system for your 3D Blu-ray playback. This is because most Blu-ray playback software in the same price range as a standalone 3D-enabled Blu-ray player cannot play back 3D Blu-ray discs in 3D mode and/or degrade image quality (1080p gets degraded to 480p).

What's worse, 3D Blu-rays are on the way out of the market due to their lack of sales: The overwhelming number of Blu-rays sold have been either 2D-only titles or 2D versions of the titles that are available in 3D. And most of the people who bought 3D Blu-ray titles tend to switch their playback mode to 2D due to their requirement of troublesome 3D glasses to play them back in 3D mode.

thank you for the reply. i think i'm going to do air cooling for now. what is the best heatsink out there? i heard about the 212+. any better ones?

I'd sell you my 16gb of RAM if you wanted it, I suggest G.Skill or Corsair for memory.

+1 vote for SSD... The M4 series, as suggested earlier, is quality.
