advice on processor upgrade

I just resuscitated an old PC, it is currently running an Asus A8N-SLI motherboard with an Athlon 64 3700+ cpu and 2 gigs of ram (ddr333 I think). I haven't run this system in a couple of years... is there a faster more energy efficient (cooler) CPU available for this MB now? would I want/need a memory upgrade?

I'd advise against paying money to do any upgrades to a 939 system. You're better off spending your money on a newer AM2+ or AM3 system even if RAM prices are more expensive.
 
Yeah save your money. you're better off with a new PC altogether

if you can live without the PC, please do :) to do any upgrades worth while to that machine will cost nearly the same as buying a used AM2 system


sell what you have, and invest it somewhere

Do what the guys are saying, you're better off getting an AM2+\AM3 system, upgrading your current really won't make any good for you...
 
I did a Opt 165 from my 3200+ and it was a nice system until I upgraded to my Phenom x3 720 a year ago.

That'd be a cheap route.
