Since this is my first post lemme just start by saying hi and thanks for the cool forum
[I wasn't sure if this should go in worklogs or just case modding.. I have started on it but won't have pics up for a couple days. thx]
Now for the background on this case mod -
This is actually a mod for a friend, I wanted to do an extravagant mod but I personally prefer a simple look for my stuff, so I convinced him to let me mod his case instead, heh. We discussed doing a Warhammer 40,000 themed case, anyone who's familiar with that game knows there's a wealth of possibilities there.
At first I considered more of a simple 'theme' case, which probably would have been a normal case with an Imperial Eagle window cutout and some black and yellow caution stripes or something, you know the usual 40k stuff... not really all that interesting and I like to go beyond the usual. Eventually we got it pinned down that he wanted it to be themed around the Adeptus Mecanicus, but he left any further details for me to figure out. So he turned his new case over to me and gave me some cash for materials.. that was about two years ago! Basically a combination of being too busy or not having a place to work on the case left it shelved for quite a while, so I really want to go all-out on this project to make up for the long wait. What I've decided on is to do more of a 'total conversion' than a 'mod', if that makes sense.
To summarize the Adeptus Mechanicus, they're basically a sort of cult in the Warhammer 40,000 world that worships all aspects of technology. Since technology is literally a religion for them, I've run with that idea to make something that fits the 40k universe but is still original: the case will be a relic containing the skull of a revered Tech-Mage, but equal to being a religious artefact, it is also a functional computer. So the theme will combine equal amounts of industrial technology and ornate decoration, making for a unique look. The case will be purposely designed to avoid looking like a contemporary computer, and instead will attempt to look more like the archaic 'medieval/biomechanical' technological style seen in Warhammer 40,000 artwork.
That's it for now, feedback appreciated.
