Adapter question

I asked recently about using a SATA hard drive in a regular IDE type motherboard. I found this product http://www.syba.com/product/41/04/02/index.html and in their pictures it only shows the device put on the hard drives and cdroms. I was wondering if I could plug the device in my motherboard and use the sata cable to plug into the hard drive.

SATA PCI cards are $20 or less.
