Super scummy. Something being rare doesn't make it valuable.

While this card is rare, it doesn't have the addon board, so it's not particularly valuable.

The story of Adlib is interesting, it looks like Creative was involved in backstabbing via Yamaha sending Adlib defective chips to delay them getting their products out before Creative.
 
Open the wrong IRQ port and your ears would bleed! I miss those days of being of trying to make sure you have the right GPU/Sound settings at each DOS game.

IRQ != port.

Select the wrong IRQ or port addr and nothing is going to happen, unless something else was there and then it could potentially cause weirdness or a crash.
