Acer AspireRevo AR1600-U910H just released, Atom 230+Ion LE nettop $199

First thing first this is the MSRP of $199, yes MSRP doesn't usually make a hot deal, yet compared to the competition this is a great little media portal/video displaying device. There is nothing prebuilt in the similar price range, that can handle 1080p video as well as being a "real computer"

Here are the specs

A couple of places has it online such as newegg and frys.com. It is also in some frys stores but not all.

Effectively this is a netbook, with no screen. Instead of a screen it has the nvidia ion le (le is identical to the traditional ion aka nvidia geforce 9400m except the only difference is that it lacks direct x 10 only having direct x 9). It posses an hdmi port allowing you to connect to a monitor or tv.

The ion le is capable of doing 1080p video playback, even with the single core cpu. All you have to do is install the right software such as media player classic home cinema. Supposedly also does great for netflix.

Currently the 230 is very insufficent for hulu and other based flash video. This will (supposedly) change when adobe upgrades from flash 10.0 to 10.1 which as one of the features will allow you to use the gpu to accelerate flash. We will wait and see. It is hoped to be released by the end of the year.

There is also soon to be the dual core version called the Aspire Revo 3610. This model has the dual core 330, vesa mounting bracket, 2gb of ram, ion not ion le, and wifi n, and windows 7. Problem is it hasn't been released yet. The Aspire Revo 3600 which is identical except vista home premium can't be found any cheaper than $380 online.

anyone know the power draw on one of these? would make a great carpc.

it would make a cool home-built gps/multimedia unit, but if you want that just buy a $200 garmin unit that doesnt require installation and is easier to use.

a real carpc needs some multitasking power... imo at least...

fun little device....might fit the bill as the bedroom htpc I've been planning for years'

edit...the lack of hulu/youtubeHD kills it though

You still have the device?
It's $200 currently in Newegg and Amazon.
If you can do $150 consider it sold.
