Its the Timeline body, but made from plastics. Anyone with experience getting to the cpu?

I finally found someone who posted a screencap of the mysterious L310 chip from AMD and wanted to ask you guys for advice on possible upgrades.

The pin type is now known, but I still can't find anything on TDP. So, any initial guesses of upgrades?

Is this the $348 model that Walmart has?

I checked it out the other day and it looks really nice.

They had it on display with no battery in it and no ac plugged in...lol.

Super thin and looks very light weight.

4 gigs ram, big hard drive plus I believe it has built-in gigabit ethernet.

Crazy deal for the $$

That's the one. They're also set to have a cheaper HP build this sat. I might return the Acer and get that one since HP actually provides documentation on accessing the innards of their machines - but I'll lose the 'cool, sleek' appearance of the Acer.
The HP also comes with a Celeron 900 which would be much easier to research.

More info:

AMD Better By Design Program, featuring:

* AMD Turiontm 64 X2 dual-core processor L510 (1 MB L2 cache, 1.60 GHz, DDR2 800 MHz, 20 W)
* AMD Athlontm 64 X2 dual-core processor L310 (1 MB L2 cache, 1.20 GHz, DDR2 800 MHz,13 W)
* AMD Athlontm 64 single-core processor TF-20 (512 MB L2 cache, 1.60 GHz , DDR2 667 MHz,15 W)

Chipset1 AMD M780G Chipset

Since it lists TF-20, a similar upgrade path could be http://hera.hardocp.com/showthread.php?t=1433466
However, does the M780G chipset have any limits on cpu power draw?

Candidates:
0.065 micron - TDP 31W - 95°C

TL-56 - TMDTL56HAX5DC
TL-58 - TMDTL58HAX5DC
TL-60 - TMDTL60HAX5DC

Not always (there is a hard limit of 35W, it seems. But the cooler will fail to provide much above what Acer gives their systems, CPUwise), but I'd recommend sticking the the available CPU choices from Acer, due to the BIOS.

Wow, that looks like a pretty kick ass laptop for the price. Is the 1.2GHz dual core noticably underpowered or do you just want to upgrade?

Anyone own a laptop with this chip and hd3200 gfx?? If so.. is this laptop capable of 1080p playback? Probably with coreAVC... but is it capable?

Socket S1g1 638 pin lidless.
I just upgraded my Acer 5534which had the L310 chip to Turion TL-60 @ 2.0Ghz. Core temps show about 40-50 degrees Celsius which is well within the 95 max. Been running it for hours with no negative effects or overheat issues. I noticed that you can't just install this processor from the beginning. The drvers don't load for it and Device Mgr shows it as one core. Start with a TL-52 or something and it will load the drivers and then put the TL-60 in.
