Accelero S1 for 4870?

Just want to ask 1 quick question before ordering it for the soon be arrived 4870.

I heard there are problem with the included vram heatsink, either get in the way of the pipes or not enough of them. Can someone confirm if this is true or not? If it is what do would you recommand me getting along with S1 and the turbo fans.
 
It is true. The RAM chip furthest on the bottom right is blocked by the heatpipe. I just took the included one a dremeled it down. Took about 5 minutes.
 
Furmark seems to have driver issues w/ ATI cards crashing right now, not the card crashing itself

I have it on my 4870. the RAM chip you're talking about on mine does touch the heatsink, but only barely.

They are copper tubes, and copper is easily bent.

I've had mine 4870 going at 790MHz,1100MHz (GPU,RAM) and temps on load are around 55c. I've had Folding@HOME going on the 4870 24hours and no problems at all! Idle sits around 48c. I have a 140mm fan running on low attached to the Accelero S1 v2.
 
So why can I run furbench with the original heatsink for hours and not with accelero ??

Come on are you afraid to run that bench ?

Not sure why you're making such a fuss.

790MHz GPU, 1100MHz RAM with the Accelero S1 (and a 140mm slow fan)

That benchmark runs just fine for me. Temps with load are 55-57c.

If I had to guess, and I do, you did not install it properly and there is not good contact between the heatsink base and the gpu or you have no fans on it and are trying to run it as a passive heatsink which Arctic does NOT recommend for high performance cards/gaming.
