the device itself will have required volts, amps, and polarity on the label. (its also listed on the adapter but that doesn't do you any good) then take that info to a local business that has an in house I.T. department and ask one of the techs if they have an A/C adapter that will work that you can have. usually there is a storage room in a basement full of stuff like that.
 
They ALL use pretty much the same adapater.. I have found the very same adapter from toshiba and seagate.. They are 12V, outside is -ne and inside is +ve.... Most are 1.5A but some are 2A.. Older drives took more juice so they were 2A but I also seen 1A plugs.. You have to check if they will fit, although the connection looks the same, the size is slightly different and might not fit properly.. I interchangeably use WD, Seagate and Toshiba adapters with each other.. Seems cheaply made as I have lost 2 of them and they did not have all that much use.

Remember, this is DC, so a thicker and shorter power cord from the brick to the drive is better.. DC power loss due to wire resistance is pretty big.. a 10 foot cable can drop a couple of volts in the wire and cause intermittent problems with reading/writing..

That looks similar to the one I have on my hgst Touro drives.

I have 4 different seagate bricks, it does not matter! As long as it is 12V 1.5A or higher rating. SOME of them are 2A especially the older ones.. But WD and HGST bricks also work as they are 2A ones but look identical to the seagate ones.
