About to purchase!!! Need input quick!!!

I am contemplating whether to buy the 9800Pro 128MB 256bit or the 9800Pro 256MB 256bit.

Here is the 9800Pro 256MB for only 60 bucks more than the 128MB version...

I want to know if the extra 60 bucks will be much of a difference in preformance. Will it?

Not at the moment, but possibly in the future games will be more vram-hungry.

Your topic reminds me of the movie Short Circuit.

there is little to no performance gain. only with 1600x1200 res and aa and af turned on will you see any improvements. It will be only a frame or two higher than the 128 meg version. Save the $60.

The 9800Pro 256MB 256bit can be flashed (after replacing stock cooler) to an XT I believe. Don't know if that helps you.

Good choice. The extra ram is barely worth it on the x800/pro's- you really need a top end card, a brand new game (far cry), and a nice display to use 256mb vram right now.
