I've got this board and I was going to throw in my old SB live just for the hell of it as it's hung with me since PII 300 days but this board will not take it at all. With the SB live in it's highly unstable and locks up every 5 minutes or so.

I've just been using the onboard sound but I wondered if anybody had seen this before.
 
try all the different PCI slots? Back in the earlier days of Thunderbirds, I got a Jetway board that simply wouldnt allow my SB Live card to work either, kinda sucked so I had to switch brands for the time being. I'd check around Abit Forums say on viaarena.com, and see if any one else had success. You could also try Technical Support, but when it comes to incompatabilities, companies never seem to want to admit anything anymore :rolleyes: .
 
I have my SB Audidgy installed in the lowest PCI slot. Have not had any problems with it yet.
 
Ditto here on the Audigy with no issue. I have it in the 3rd pci slot. But it is also an Audigy.

I haven't seen any info on live card. You should hit abxzone forum. That is where I have gotten a majority of my info in the past from. A great community focused primarily on mobos and periphals.
 
Does that include the SB Audidgy? Im getting a IRQ_LESS_ThEN_EQUAL blue screen when I exit out of UT2004 mods.... Joint Ops / Dawn of War I have no problems...
 
What's wrong with using the onboard sound? Im considering the same board and I also have an older sound blaster live value and was just going to use the onboard sound instead of the sb. Thoughts on the OB sound?
 
Ive got a sound blaster live 5.1, its great. but I put it in my old system and got me an audigy 2 ZS, heh I can notice the difference.
