I just installed an Intel Q9550 in my IP35-e and it doesn't fully load Windows. It gets past everything fine,such as verifying pool data,which says update successful, and then it shows the Windows logo for about 5 to 10 seconds then goes to a light blue screen then it re-boots.
I've updated the BIOS to v18 which on the Abit website CPU compatibility list shows the Q9550 as OK.

Any clues or suggestions?
 
Spare drive to do a reinstall on? Tested the memory? Brother has a Q9550 in a 35-e no problems.
 
I've been running a P4 670 with no problems and the memory is about a month old and fine. Should I try booting-up to my XP disk and run repair?
 
I would give that a try. Not sure if that old P4 has HT or not, but it might get hung up on the multi-processor HAL vs. the single processor HAL.
 
Yes,I reset the CMOS. And I looked for the HT in my BIOS to disable it but can't seem to locate it now. Will try again.
 
Update: Everything's good to go. I got it running and as a matter of fact it's running at 3.2ghz due to 400FSB. Can definitely tell the difference.
In a couple of weeks I'll be back for some O'C tips. Would like to maybe get it up to 3.8ghz.

The only thing I can think of is that when I reset the CMOS,it re-set my memory timings. I put them back manually to their proper settings and voila,she runs.
 
Turn off legacy USB support in the bios unless you need it.. thats what gave me headaches on my IP35
