Ok,

i've been searching this for the last 2 or 3 days.. And i'm finding it hard to get an answer that makes sense, sorry if this has been posted before but even searching these forums i got conflicting answers..

to the point.

i have an A8N, SLI Vanilla..

i was just trying my hand at OCing an X2 4400+ i bought from someone on these boards and i have been able to do pretty good, right now i am unable to go anyfurther because i cannot raise the voltage any higher than 1.45..

everything thing i read about the A8N says i should be able to goto at least 1.5 (with 1.5 i can probably make it to 2.6Ghz, I'm at 2.55 Rock Solid right now)..

am i using the wrong bios, or is there a better Asus bios i can use (i'm using 10014 now)..

i'm just a little confused @ the max of 1.45 instead of 1.5 i am reading it should be able to do.

the voltage options vary depending on the cpu you have .many of the mobo dont give you as high a voltage option on x2 cpu's.i run a venice 3200 and my options go to 1.60 but i know people who run the same mobo and same bios but have x2 3800 and there voltage options are not as high as mine with single core.kinda sucks when you are trying to o/clock.but asus puts it in there as a saftey factor i guess.

check post nr 20.

I just switched to DFI eXpert, becouse i can't get higher than 1.45V. But this guy saying that if you are using bios 1005 you can get easyly 1.55V BTW i still got my A8N Premium in the box, lol. I checked manula and it saying V for CPU is 0.8 to 1.65V. Propobly depend on bios ver.

greetings,

Peacemaker.

edit :
i also use latest beta for Asus... now i don't think it was good choice lol!

The Asus SLI boards all overvolt by 0.02-0.04v anyway. So 1.5v ends up being 1.52-1.54v

i'll check this out when i get home, although i'll have to double check that the 1005 bios supports the X2's. i know they were only supported with a bios update (and i can't remember which update they were put in)..
