Can anyone help me clear up this confusion?

On tiger direct they list two s754 CPUs... a OEM 3400+ and an OEM 3300+. The specs on both seem wrong to me. Shouldn't the 3400 have the 1600bus and not the 3300? Is this an input error or am I missing something?

Here's some info for the Athlon 3300 at TigerDirect:

Translation: this is an old style 130 nm chip and NOT a Venice core. It also has the same amount of cache as some Sempron chips so avoid it.
 
Yes, the 3300 is basically a Sempron.
The 3400+ OEM at Tigerdirest is a Newcastle 130nm cpu. The Newegg part is a 3400+ Venice which is superior to the Newcastle, although after rebate, $49.95 is a fantastic price for a cpu. So choose you must. $49.95 for a 3400+ Newcastle or $99 for a mobo and 3400+ Venice.
 
Right on, it's basically a sempron chip and it's not totally wortheless. Semprons usually give their bigger brother a good run for the money. OC that 50 dollar chip to 2700-2800 and you'll be in heaven. My 3100+ OC'd to 2400 without breaking a sweat...and gaming was equally satisfying--scoring 7500 with an AGP 7800gs card.

Also remember that there is a pretty good sized Tiger Direct rebate in order to get it down to that price. Not looking so Hot now is it compared to the Newegg deal? :D
 
I've never had a problem with the rebates at TigerDirect but it does take a while to get the money back. Like I said $49.95 for a 2.4 Newcastle that will probably hit 2.55 isn't too bad.
I prefer the skt 754 Venice cpu's myself. They have the same core as the Sempron 64's except for the size of the L2 cache. I have owned 1 each of the 3000+, 3200+ and now the 3400+. They'll all hit 2.65-2.75 without too much trouble but the 3000+ and 3200+ need a bit more voltage to get there than my 3400+ does.
As for the Semprons, I've heard good things about them. Super economical and overclocking fiends. Nothing wrong with a Sempy as a lot of people crank out good results with them.
 
On fatwallet some people reported getting 1MB cache Clawhammers instead of Newcastles on the 3400+. FYI
