cause most manufacturers assume the majority of people will not be using a dual monitor setup? not to mention the technical problems associated with doing that
 
Backlight bleeding, LCD screens cracking instantly upon touch, edges breaking open and LCD crap leaking all over the place, those kinds of things.
A technology like OLED would be much better for something like that.

Good idea, the table saw will ensure that the edges are cut straight and at a right angle to the adjacent edges. I'll have to try this sometime.

I would assume the sharpest, strongest, and thinnest ones for percision and smoothness of the finish.

Maybe some gold plated ones made by Monster that is THX certified.

You do not want to use the thinnest blade possible - it will have a tendency to lean away from the material towards the side that you are trimming off. The thinner the trim and the hotter the blade becomes (it can get quite hot depending on the material), the more pronounced the problem will be and your precision will actually suffer. Fortunately, you'd only be making eight cuts with the blade and will have the opportunity to let it cool a bit after each cut.

Keep in mind that I'm talking about high-speed mass production applications. Eight cuts may not be enough to cause a problem, but I'd still go with a blade of normal thickness. Either way, thinner blade body = more blade flex = less cutting precision.

If someone actually wants to try this, go through the yellow pages and find a local shop that specializes in custom plastics - they will either have the tools and blades on location to make the cuts for you, or they will be able to supply you with someone who can. Worst case, they'll point you in the right direction concerning type of blade. Another possibility might be a custom car or cycle shop. Worth a shot anyway

You could also remove the screens from the frames and build a custom enclosure for both screens.
 
I would use a 50 cent butter knife. Will get there eventually and save you the extra 5000 to buy a computer.

Serious or not, the thinnest blade is not the way to go if you need to make a precise and straight cut.

Even though it was said jokingly you could take the plastic off and cut away the right edge of one and the left edge of another and then put them together. You'd still have a slight boarder from the actual LCD frame (metal) but it'd think it'd be less than what you have now. It may look slightly tacky but maybe it'd be better.

You'd have to have a lot of money to think about doing something like that to a $300+ display though. :);)
