So go someplace that has the S8 and S8+ on display, I think most carrier stores have demo units now but still aren't selling them directly till after the 21st, and see which one you prefer. Since they're basically the same damned phones except for their physical form factor it's up to you to decide. Do a pros/cons list for each and get the one with the most pros or the least cons or a mix of each.

There's literally no difference between them other than the size of the phone/screen, and battery. The bigger battery on the S8+ may be somewhat negated by its larger screen as well, so it may not even get that much better battery life than the smaller S8. So yeah, just do what Tiberian said and go test them out to see which feels best in hand and factor in the case along with it.

Personally I hate the curved edges on the phones, as they add virtually no functionality (Edge features are pretty gimmicky and get in the way more than help) and just make the phone harder to protect with cases and screen protectors (which are basically non-existent because it's impossible to fit right with the curved edges). I would consider the S8 if they didn't force the Edge displays on us. It looks cool and that's about it. It's also annoying that they didn't put stereo speakers on the phone, as my current and previous phone had them and I don't want to downgrade in that area on my next phone if I don't have to. Even the iPhone has this now, so it's surprising Samsung didn't follow suit with them. I'm considering the Mate 9 now just because of that and it has an IR blaster too, which I miss from my previous phone.

If you want an idea of the what the S8/+ experience will be like as far as screen aspect ratio, put your Dell display on your PC in portrait mode. Really nice for viewing things like forums, lists, documents, etc. Of course you're still able to turn the phone and put it into landscape mode when appropriate.

I'm more or less in the same camp as T4rd when it comes to the Infinity display. I've spent about 30 minutes with the new Samsungs at both Best Buy and Verizon and the glare from the overhead lighting in those environments on the part of the screen where the edges roll away is obnoxious. It's funny, too, if you watch tech review videos on YouTube of the phone where they're going nuts over the amazing screen and all I see are two vertical white bands of glare on either side of the screen. Add that to the goofy fingerprint sensor next to the camera and Bixby (really tired of Samsung's inferior cloning of every Google app) I'm looking at other options.

I posted on the other S8 thread that the G6 is looking more appealing mostly due to the reasons T4rd said. Right now the G6 is half-price on sprint. I'm sticking with TMo though. The HTC One x10 leaks are coming out, so I'm still avoiding Samsung this year it seems.

I got enough hands on time with the s8 in the past couple months (I work for a wireless provider & we have had a couple in the building for a while now to test) that I didnt even consider upgrading to it. the aspect ratio of the screen is good.. but the stupid fucking edges on it drive me crazy.. There is a couple of other things about it that I also hate.. Like the fingerprint sensor.. This was a sad attempt by samsung to copy LG in moving it to the back. But the implementation is stupid. With it not being centered reaching it with your index finger in your right hand would be ok, but left hand is awkward as fuck.. Where as LG's placement centered below the camera makes it super easy to locate and activate in either hand.

I have had my g6 for over a week now & I can definitely say that I am happy with my decision. The g6 is absolutely gorgeous & the display (completely flat) is phenomenal.

The G6 LOOKS amazing, but I'm not buying another LG until they go 2 generations without a bootloop issue. It's really sad, they were destined to be the top of the mobile world after the G2 and fell flat on their faces.

As for the S8? Meh. For the same reasons everyone else has. Awful FP sensor placement, edges are more hinderance than feature, lack of real upgrade from the S7. The only way I get one is if T-Mobile/Samsung does a desperate "trade in the S7 for a free S8" move, and you KNOW this is coming this summer.

Until then... I hold onto the iphone 7+ until the Pixel 2 shows what it's got. Hopefully they get their asses in gear, I'm starting to hate iOS even more.

I've got an S8+ pre-ordered, looking forward to getting it. I played around with the demo unit at T-Mo before I pre-ordered. I thought I'd had the curved screen, but it really didn't bother me in person. I actually liked it better than the G6.

Wife has the S8+ preordered on Sprint. Went to Best Buy to test it out and she liked it better then the G6 (G6 was in an activation loop so really could not test it out.)

It's an LG. Sooner or later...

He said activation loop meaning it hadn't been activated and therefore can't be used until it is - it gets stuck at the activation for service screen and you can't bypass it, especially on Sprint devices. There are workarounds, of course, but for someone just standing in a Sprint store they're not going to go through all that trouble. One would think the Sprint personnel would be aware of it since the demo/floor models should be 100% functional for customers to try out.

It's not a boot loop issue and you forgot a smiley. :D

Galaxy S8 battery life test: Snapdragon vs Exynos edition, a familiar tale
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Gala...gon-vs-Exynos-edition-a-familiar-tale_id93175

Yet again, the International model with the homegrown Samsung processor FAIRS A LOT BETTER IN THE BATTERY DEPARTMENT, compared to the Snapdragon version. A very large margin of better battery life on the Exynos version.

Plus the International model come bootloader unlocked for easy rotting and ROM's, and the Qualcomm version is LOCKED down.

Man the U.S. gets the gimped phone

"even with all those specs they still can't make smooth and lag free software"

Again the Touchwiz lag is still clear and evident. Man Galaxy phones with the Snapdragon just seemed gimped no matter hardware is pushing them.

boring phone is boring. Fuck gimmicky curved screens.

I guess I'm switching to Google.

I hate the curved screen, but man this phone has the best in-hand feel I've ever come across. It'll PROBABLY get ruined with a case, and you'd be crazy NOT to use a case. That being said, the S7 software was solid, and I never had any lag actually bother me. If the S8 can come close, then it'll be a hit.
