YAMAKASI 301 SPARTA is your only option at this point under $500 for that kind of monitor brand new.

Otherwise you're looking at used monitors for what you want under that price range.

You should consider looking elsewhere. 30" 1600p were replaced by 34" 3440x1440 or by smaller 27-24" 2560x1440. They used CCFL backlight, which was high gamut and caused oversaturated colors under sRGB, plus they run very hot. LED backlight in 30" 2560x1600 is very rare, and they do not run at higher refresh rates like the monitor that replaced them. I have not been able to find a buyer for my 2007 Apple 30", mostly because of the low price asked for brand new 24-27" 1440p monitors.

What are you using the monitor for?

The 30" is overpriced for it's size/resolution/refresh/etc.

If you are doing a 20-30-20 PLP setup for office work then it makes sense, but for nearly everything else for your budget you should consider 27" 1440p.

The 950D is absolute trash -- I'd say they aren't even worth $200. I picked one up locally to try out about a year ago... didn't even keep it the whole day. Stay clear. It's a TN, and color quality is terrible -- not at all suitable for design work.

What would one of the 40" Korean 4Ks run you? They're around $600 shipped via eBay here, which I realize is more than you were looking to spend. Many will take 4K at 60Hz, 1080P at 120Hz, so you could drop resolution if needed for gaming and get higher refresh rate.

There was a guy selling one of the LG 3440x1440 ultrawide IPS monitors for ~$500 USD a few days ago; maybe look for a deal on one of those locally?

Where are you in Canada? I have a 10 year old 3007WFP you might be able to have for considerably less than $500. I'm in Ottawa.

I've been looking to upgrade for years. The $2000 I spent on that 3007WFP was one of the best purchases I ever made, but what to purchase in 2016 is not nearly so obvious. 27" 16x9 is a lot smaller than 30" 16x10. I figure that 32" 4K is about perfect for size and PPI, but they are hard to find and quite expensive. At least they seem that way, since 40-43" 4K is considerably cheaper. But that's probably because they use crappy TV panels.

I would probably get the NEC EA305WMi. There probably isn't a more recent 30" from a respected manufacturer.

I also know that the EA series have the "newer" light antiglare coating which is a big deal to me.
