I'm guessing that's why Nintendo chose to put a depth slider on the 3DS. Of course it kinda defeats the purpose of buying the 3DS for 3D if your going to turn the 3D off.

I might have to go check out a demo unit. The remake of oot has me interested in the system.

So if it is giving people headaches, I wonder if it will pause every 15 minutes and tell you to take a break like the VirtuaBoy did.

You are too fast. I was going to make the VirtualBoy reference. That has to be one of the worst console decisions ever.

I want to try a demo unit, just to see how it works, but I have no interest in owning one of these.

guess this isn't for me...if it causes motion type sickness, there is no way I could play it.

Uhh...You guys DO know there's a slider on the side for a reason, right? Nintendo knows it can give some people problems which is why they gave you the option to either have a lot, none or anything inbetween.

setting the 3D slider to less than 50% is more tolerable...but you know, that really defeats the purpose of this system.

Some people are going to pass on the 3DS because they can't take advantage of the 3D and don't feel like paying a hefty price for a feature that they can't use.

When i went to try the 3DS i was like "Really? If i play this for more than 20 minutes im going to have a fit.." After 5minutes i had a headache, i found it really hard to focus and i didn't like it to be honest. I'm usually fine in 3D films but there have been a couple that have given me bad headaches.
3D is not for me i don't think.

My mate on the other hand loves it and snapped up a 3DS straight away.

I was going to get one for sure, but the NGP was what made me think twice.
Plus, the main reason I want one (Mario Kart) might still be a year and several discounts away.
I'm holding out for now.

Uhh...You do realize you still get a 3D effect even if it's no at the very top, right?

"even if it's no at the very top" I not sure what you meant by that. I thought only one of the screens was 3D; that's what I recall from using one for a few minutes two weeks ago. No headaches here btw.

The Slider that you move up and down to get various levels of 3D effect. For many people having it up all the way will make them sick or give them headaches, that's why you tone it down so that while you still get 3D it's not as much and easier to handle, you just need to adjust the slider till you find your sweet spot. Also, the 3D is different for every game.

Wonder how many folks that had issues with it didn't try adjusting the level of 3D with the slider...

I'd imagine a great deal. It's unfair to bash the 3DS just because some of you can't handle 3D or didn't bother trying to adjust it.

On another message board I go to there's a topic 45 pages long, of all those I'd say 20% mentioned feeling sick or nauseous and about half of those were able to fix it by adjusting the slider.

I wouldn't doubt it giving people headaches but this is not a purchase for me. The NGP just looks like everything I could ever want from a portable.

I think it's fair to bash if you tried adjusting it but weren't comfortable with it unless the effect was off/nearly off. For those that can enjoy the 3D effect this is might be a great buy, but some products just aren't made for all people.

So far I haven't seen any complaints along the lines of "The 3D gave me a headache so you shouldn't get one" (NOT fair) It's more like "I hate it because the 3D gave me a headache"(fair).

I have yet to try the 3DS out but I do want to see if I would get headaches as well. I don't care too much for 3D movies. I'm definitely looking forward to the NGP though, best website for info about the NGP is NGP Forum. I'm glad Sony is implementing new features that don't completely change the types of games that will be on the system but supplement (aka the rear touchpad).
