I play fps shooters and all sorts of other PC games with a wireless mouse. Tell me how the wii is sooo "revolutionary" please.

The standard Wii controller config can sense 3D space and speed. Mouse is 2D working in 3D space. And the Nunchuck can sense motion too. Also, it can be for "Right-ies" or "Left-ies".

Yeah, there have been mice for the PC that do this to some degree, but they didn't sell as much as a standard mouse. So you can't design a game around it. For the Wii, every game developer knows a Wii user has this, and can design the game around it to some extent.

In the end, it's just an input device, that if released as an add-on would fail. The PowerGlove/U-Force/Running Pad failed because they were add-ons. The SG controller is useless outside of Guitar Hero, the Steel Batalion controller is useless outside of the game, DDR mats are useless outside the DDR (Well maybe SpaceChannel 5 ;) ). So I would say the Wii-Mote is another approach on something that needed a breath of fresh air.

have you forgotten? anyone that doesn't love the Wii is a LOOOSER!!!!
 ;)

isn't there already a bunch of Wii's that have had lockups or failures? i read a thread here somewhere...

so i dont get accused of flamebaiting, here's my positive Wii spin:

at least Nintendo is making money off of it from the start, M$ just started making a little on the 360's finally, Nintendo did something right :D
nintendo usually makes money right away.

the wii problems so far seem to be some units wont update, and people are tossing their wiimotes into their tv's

from the way it is reported to work in some games, i would bet at least one of those was out of rage, not mistake

i had a friend back when the first Nintendo came out, he would throw that little gamepad at the screen as hard as he could and it would just "plink" off, but it scared the shit outta me every time

Yeah, that was with an old tube which are hard as a rock. These larger displays are a bit more fragile.

Atari users were probably like "I don't want that d-pad game pad bullshit, I'll stick with my joystick with 2 buttons - it's far superior"

A lot of people today hold that exact sentiment when it comes to fighting games and scrolling shooters.

i think the motion control is great if used selectively.

i do not want every wii title catered to that control scheme and forced to make it awkwardly work.

would hate to see devs think they have to include a bunch of gimmicks just for the sake of making use of the controller.

My thoughts exactly, and it would be really dissapointing if Gamecube controller support were removed from further titles thus forcing gamers to use the Wiimote, because many people are going to want to play traditional titles with a traditional controller.

The dual screen/stylus setup really caught on with the DS, but that wasn't such a risk because it was obvious that many games could benefit from a second screen, and there were games that took advantage of the stylus from the start. Even if the stylus didn't catch on, a lot of people would have still bought the DS just because they had a GBA.

For the forseable future, it looks as though the Wiimote will be forced into games just for the sake of using it. As I've said before, in order for it to have the success that Nintendo wants, it's going to need a steady stream of titles that make effective use of the Wiimote. If this doesn't happen, then people are going to see it as more of a fad and it's going to wear out, which in effect makes the Wii a Gamecube with online play.

yeah dude, it was like one of those 800 lb wooden console type 25" TV's.....with a convex tube.......it was like the screen was made of steel, it literally cracked the controller after a while (and those original D-Pad controllers were really tough and hard)

Show me an add on that was remotely successful if a console was not launched with it (or a configuration of it was not launched with it) that was integral to playing a variety of games.
EyeToy?

Haha, yeah I recall punching those screens several times over when I first got my NES as a kid, its like hitting a wall.
