Im finally building a new computer after a long deployment
Just wondering if I can keep my PSU because its been good for me so far

I have a OCZ Modstream 450
Hardware installed will be

Antec p180 case
Intel q6600 quad w/ aftermarket cooler
Asus p5q pro
2 x 2gig RAM
Either a 4850 or 4870 GPU, (havent quite decided yet) only one
Creative X-FI sound card
Dvd Burner
Dvd reader
2 x 750 gig WD HDD
Ususal fans and stuff

I Like to mod, so maybe a light or 2 and other random stuff i can hotwire
Possibly overclocking. My last build was a socket A. Ive been gone for a long time.
Most work being done is gaming and some movie encoding.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you :D

If you read down through the PSU forum you will see almost every post like this ends in a wild fanboi defence of OCZ..Not pretty.

First I would upgrade to a larger PSU, 550 or better. (My PSU of choice would be a Corsair 620 or 650 to allow room to grow)

I would probably tell you to look at Corsair, Seasonic or Antec tri Power.

Tests and Facts make any of those a sure win and Corsair has the best Customer service in the business.

Also, check Kyle and Paul's PSU reviews, they are the best.

Ok, let the flames begin;)

I recommend replacing the PSU as well. A new quality PSU does not cost that much these days and you would not have to worry at all whether or not your really old PSU can power that rig. I recommend this PSU:
BFG Tech LS-550 550W PSU - $67

A stock Q6600 and a 4850 would be fine. However, start OCing the Q6600 and pairing it up with a 4870, you've effectively added another ~100 watts of load, and that OCZ may start to have issues since from what I've read, they start to have ripple problems when being pushed near their limits.

You should keep the PSU, just don't use it in that system if you're going to OC and/or go with the 4870.

thanks for the feedback guys
looks like ill be upgrading and keeping that one in my other system
