You must be psychic, that is my next target purchase after I sell my efs 18-85 and acquire a 24-105.;)
Nah... we're all just very much alike  After acquiring all the "basic" lenses I have decided it is time to upgrade my D80. I'm still a few years out before I have enough, but... I can already smell that shiny, brand spanking new Nikon D5 :p

Some old film shots, mostly from 2009-2010. I managed to get an Epson 3490 today and thus decided to scan some old negs.

The first three are from New Hampshire, mostly the White Mountains, back in late 2009. Fujicolor 200 film, Nikon N90, DX lenses (vignetting on some of the shots). These negatives have aged really poorly so they look pretty vintage, though I like that. Sorry about various bits of dust on some of the shots.

Some Velvia 100 shots around February 2010

I sadly don't shoot much film anymore - it's a beautiful medium but I can't justify the costs.

Still - if you want your pictures to look like film, shoot the real thing. It's a wonderful experience.

Agreed! My medium-format stuff is around $2 per shot when you include film and developing, it'd be even more if I didn't have a scanner. On the other hand, the giant 6x9cm negatives are beautiful to work with.

My friend bought a sailboat (not the one pictured) and we've been going to this floating pub every night - SO MUCH FUN!

Anyway, here's one from last night on the sail home:

Great stuff from everyone. Jstamsek, I love the macro work. I try to shoot small things closeup with my 100-400mm but it aint easy.

Best dragonfly I've gotten in flight so far.

Another few film scans:

Fujicolor 200

Fujifilm Velvia 100

Both shot with a Nikon N90 and DX lenses.Sorry about the dust.

Flying Heritage Collection's Battle of Britain day. (if only they had a Spit I to go with the 109E). They do have a Hurricane, but they didn't fly it today. :(

Instead, they flew their SpitV with the Historic Flight Foundation's SpitIX.

My first attempt at a road shoot on the friend's 08 Shelby Cobra. Day was awful. And shooting from a moving car, trying to keep low shutter speeds to get the motion blur is just hell. Only things that came out were at 1/200. I need to do better.

BB Gun, that B25 looks pretty badass!

So I finally received my infrared-converted camera today... on the first rainy/stormy day after more than a month of sun. So dissapointing :(

Awesome!

What's your technique? How do you catch them in-flight? Quantity? i.e. one out of every 100 you get just right?

BB

Thanks!
This one was pretty coperative as it would hover for 5-8 seconds and move a few feet and hover again. Yes it's spray and pray but I only shot 15 of this guy and that's the best one.

Smitty, what camera did you take that with?

Edit: clicking on your link I see that it's a Canon Rebel :)

Beautiful shot silvermk3. Very striking model.

That's also a really nice elk(?) capture synergyo1.

Both have me jealous.

Wo0t!

A small thing, but it excites me more than I thought it would. Not only did one of my pics get published in Warbirds Digest, I got the full spread photo on the story intro. This was all about the Air2Air photography class they had in May/June that I attended.

The September/October issue:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Warb....255886674432036.63348.150466438307394&type=1

Now, I didn't get paid. It only cost me $625.00! Part of the class was that they got to use participants' photos for the story if they chose.

That's why its a small thing, and why I am surprised at how much it excited me when I saw the story posted on FB.

TBH, I didn't even know they were using magazine editors for the ground school portion of the class when I signed up. I was just looking forward to being in the air in a B-25 taking pictures of a P-51!

What I can also say is - thank goodness for lightroom!

A lot of people don't like HDR. But I'm learning it anyways. Here it is...

Nice cloud detail :)
I'd pump the contrast a bit and tone down the halos to make the images 'pop' a little more. What did you use to process them?

Anyway, here's part of the first batch of edits from my recent hair shoot.

Thanks northrup!

Some more from the ground today. Solid blue sky is hard, and I can never get it to be the tone I want. As you can see from the 3 different tones below. All a bit oversaturated...
