A noobie question about installing Windows 7

I am slowly piecing together the parts of my new build (will have all the parts in a month) but I recently ordered a Crucial M4 64gb for a boot drive. As I still have a month, I was thinking that I could put it into my laptop, do a clean install of Windows Seven and my other programs and whatnot, and when the rest of my parts come, simply move the drive to the new build and put the old drive back in the laptop.

So my question is:
-Would this work?
- Could I just plug the SSD into the new build and it would boot into Windows 7 automatically?
-Are there any downsides?

If you do that, the hardware drivers loaded into windows for the laptop's hardware could cause issues once you try to move it to the new computer.
It best to format the ssd and reinstall if you move the drive to a different hardware configuration.

1) Maybe depending on the following factors:
- If the Windows 7 key is actually the one solely meant for the laptop, then no you can not move that key to the desktop. It's against MS's EULA.
- If the Windows 7 key does not belong to the laptop, it may work but you'd might run into the issues listed in the answers to question 3.

2) Maybe if the laptop already has AHCI enabled.

3) Quite a few:
- Possible driver conflicts
- Possible instability
- Possible low performance
- Activation issues as you're basically using different hardware

Thanks guys! I didn't even consider how to driver updates would factor in; but i probably wont take the risk anyways.
