A mother without CPU - DANGER?

First, I am a coder, not a tech

That said, I'm installing a water cooling system on my computer. I want to turn it on to test if everything is working but I don't want to fry my CPU and GPU. Especially my GPU.

Could someone tell me if it would be safe to plug the PSU in the MoBo to power it up without installing the CPU?

Another solution would be to connect together pins 13 and 14, according to this :

Pin Signal Color 1 Color 2
1 3.3V orange violet
2 3.3V orange violet
3 GND black black
4 5V red red
5 GND black black
6 5V red red
7 GND black black
8 PW_OK grey orange
9 5V_SB violet brown
10 12V yellow yellow
11 3.3V orange violet
12 -12V blue blue
13 GND black black
14 PS_ON green grey
15 GND black black
16 GND black black
17 GND black black
18 -5V white white
19 5V red red
20 5V red red

To do so, what type of wire should I use?

do you have a spare heatsink/fan?

you could always do what I do, in that I set up the retail fan/heatsink and such, try it to make sureit's working fine/stable/etc, then hook up the watercooling without it being attached to the processor, to make sure water is flowing, etc.

Paper clip. I do it all the time.

Green wire + any black wire.

It may not be green. I've had power supplies with gray ATX-pwr wires... look at it this way

It's pins 4 and 6, counting from top left as 1. (Top being the side with the locking notch).

You can do it fine with a paper clip. To turn off, simply pull it out.

PSU jumping is the shit!

Alright, thanks for the help everyone.

If I don't post a reply within 2 days then start laughing at me and my burnt rig.
