well, i want to find a case in the ~$100 range that would look good with LED fans and cathode lights, etc. i am not going to do much "modding" as of altering my case but just want to add this stuff in over time. i want a black case with a window and perferably a door on the front covering up the drives. if the case has 120mm fans that will be great but if it doesnt i guess it wont be too hard to put some in. i was thinking about the TT Tsunami but i herd the door is plastic and i dont think it would look too good with a lot of lights. i guess i might end up getting one of those lian li cases around that price without a door and make the drives look pretty :p

Thanks in advance :)

I have this case with LED's and it looks great man and it has a lots of space for you to work with and a lot of 80mm fans you can put in it :D

Nearly all cases have plastic front doors, apart from the high end ones. Surprisingly the high end ones dont have doors (hint hint). I'd second that motion for a Chieftec. It was what I was going to get (a black dragon with a window), before I found the Praetorian. It should be coming to me any week now.

well, i dont mind a plastic door but wouldn't it look kind of funny on an aluminum case? thats my only problem with it and what about the coolermaster wavemaster? i saw a picture and it looked pretty nice (had a nice shade of blue in the inside of the case)

I guess you either love or hate the Antec/Chieftec style cases. I think they look quite good, while my mate hates them. Plastic doors wouldnt look stupid on Chieftec cases, as some of the cases are aluminium, they are painted and colour matched to the door, so they dont look like eyesores.

i have looked at a lot of cases and pretty much seen them all, but i have to ask this one question:

WHY ARE THEY ALL SO FUCKING UNGLY?

i can not find a case that i really like the looks to, maybe the pictures on the internet suck but come'on people!

yeh, all those cases mentioned so far are giving me the same kind of vibe. maybe u should check out the case i got, its a Kingwin 424, Black, with window, it has a really nice removable tray feature, and tooless entry(thumbscrews everywhere). i got it at the comp swap meet for 85. i put a Clear lighted PS, and some nice LED fans that show through the front grill, so maybe u might like it, i dont know, just throwing something out.... http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-170-012&depa=0

they're all so "fuckin ugly" because they're all low end cases. :)

The only three case companies I'd buy from are Coolermaster, Silverstone (the old Coolermaster design team that left to start their own company) and Lian Li. Even that kingwin is a coolermaster rip-off (although the Kingwin isn't a bad case, I'd much rather have it over the Chieftech, which isn't bad either except for the lack of features and that it looks like a run over armidillo imho).

This is the Coolermaster ATC-101B. It retails around $250, but I got mine for $160 shipped. It's TOTALLY worth it in features, quality and looks. It's the best case ever made, period. There are so many features (all aluminum, slide out mobo tray, all thumbscrews even mobo tray and pci slots, adjustable angle front fan, top blowhole, rivitless construction on the top for easy mounting, support brackets behind mobo tray, 5 5.25 bays, room for 4 hard drives, extended ATX mobo support, front usb, etc, etc, etc) that to list them all would take forever.

my case looks sweet when I have the blue CC and 2 UV CC switched on (its OFF in this pic :( ).....I can take a night shot too if you want :)

you gotta keep in mind, any case can look good if u mod it right, for instance i baught a case off of newegg for like 20 bucks and modded it with a window and fans, along with painting it and sanding it to a mirror finish :D really any case you get with a big or really any window will look good in the dark with led fans :D for an extra touch add some CCL's.
led fans +CCL's on a case will really cautch someone's eye if you mount them good and if they are well placed :D

Here's what I have:
wb811wtp.jpg

Why I like it:
  • Silent...120mm fans
  • Front door with temp....simple nice looking display
  • side fan is over the CPU socket with a duct...I use a scythe cooler which is designed to have the airflow reversed...all the hot CPU exits thru the side fan
  • the side fan is an LED fan and actually looks good and lights up the inside of the case
  • door is well built
  • has an automotive finish to it....real nice
  • front audio & usb behind a door at the bottom...door is well built..not some flimsy POS

It's not tooless, doesn't have a removable motherboard tray. Features I could care less about since I am not always messing with my machine. I bought mine localy for $65. I didn't try out the 400 watt PSU since I have my Antec one already from my old box, but it has a 120mm fan and is real quiet....the whole case is designed to be quiet.

Anyways, I can't say enough good things about this case. I research long and hard before deciding on this case. I didn't want to spend alot, but wanted the best value for my money.

Here is a review of the windowless model:

Here is the product page at RaidMax

computerpro3, well, im not willing to spend $250 on a case, i cant even afford it(consider that im 15, dont have a job, and am going to go a little over budget in the first place), plus, it doesnt necessarily cost a manufacturer more money to make a good looking case, and aren't those ATC cases discontinued?

For a hundred bucks, I'd say the best "canvas" you can get is the Chieftec Mesh big tower series... comes in your shoice of aluminium, ilver, black, red or blue. its frickin' HUGE, good airflow, very roomy top. important for w/c. The only thing that sucks is the non-standard front audio connector plate.

that case looks a little weird, id probably get it if the front was different and it had a window, but i am going to calm down a bit and stop looking for the "perfect" case for me any more and just list what i really want. i was looking at the lian li PC-65B, but i read in a review that it was kind of small and i don't like the 80mm fans:

What i want in a case:

1) must have, or be able to fit, 120mm fans
2) must have a window, no i will not mod one one cause i suck at those things.
3) front door is optional, they all kind of look ugly anyways and id rather make all the drives match and look good
4) must be roomy, i would like a roomy case that wont look cramped and be able to fight a lot of fans and cathode lights ( i was thinking of blue LED fans and white cathode lights )

and i dont know why its so hard for me to find a case like this, i dont think im asking for anything too out of the ordinary

1) ugly

2) i want a wondow and to buy a window plate for the side will look ugly cause it will show those purple things

3) too expensive

hmm well i suggest maybe you go look around instead of sayin every case that people link is ugly or sucks.

I found those three cases in two minutes of searching on Newegg, it's not that hard... go find your own damn case instead of posting a useless thread. This exact question has been asked a hundred times... click that little thing at the top of your screen that says "Search."

*sigh*... I don't even know why I bother.

 the fact is: i HAVE been looking, i saw a LOT of cases and i think it is rediculas that i cannot find one i like.....i was hopeing someone would point out a case that i have missed or overlooked but i guess i was wrong.....and FYI, i almost saw all of the cases mentioned before they were posted except that ATC case thats discontinued!

i did not want to resort to it but i guess i will have to just buy a case with a window that is big enough to fit 120mm fans in it and pick up some drill bits from homedepot

not my fault i like NICE things and dont like to settle for crap!

wow gamekid, you are completly unappreciative of everyones help.

So what if you are seaching for the "perfect" case that your parents can buy you for X-mas.

Your request are completly unsatiable, you want a BIG OPEN case that can fit 120 fans and has a window and a front cover. But yet say no to the Antec/cheiftec design which is EXACTLY what you are looking for.

Your immature attitude sticks out in your thread and I doubt people will want to help you any more.

You think my case is crap? :p

You'd think differently if y ou could afford one I bet....

BTW your attitude sucks.

edit: and it doens't matter if its discontinued. You can still get it if you look. Just a little over your budget if you look hard enough. I bought mine not too long ago. And I also cut a 120mm fan hole in the top and watercooled with it. So it really does meet all your specs, unless of course, you think it's crap.....

i never said ur case is crap and i am not going to pay that much for a case, expecially if its just a price hype, i do not like the style of the chieftec which i clearly stated a few times and u cannot tell me u dont think that super lanboy isn't ugly, i should have stated that in my first post but since u people dont get the hint;

I DONT WANT AN UGLY CASE!!!!!

well, i made a different more specific thread to save people from reading this rather stupid argument and attack against me. and i dont know if this was mentioned but i do not like the p160 due to the fact that it is greyish (i do not want to paint the drives) and the window has 3 ovals on it for some reason i do not understand

and i believe i was more clear in my new thread and shouldnt experience these "complecations" over again due to confusion

You're new here, aren't you ;)
You do realize that you're asking this in a case modding forum, right? And what are 'those purple things' anyways?

well...there isnt a case forum and i figured the people that mod cases would actually know the most about cases....makes sence

and that silverstone has purple things(i dont know what the are) on the drive bays and if u have a full sized window (not that small one that u can buy with it) u will be able to see it, and although u could probably remove/replace them, id skip the hasel and spend more money on a defferent case

1) Neither does anyone else. Don't buy one, then. But remember, it's all opinion, so when people are trying to help you, even if you don't agree with them, try to be grateful.

2) Go find a good-looking case. It really is not so difficult. There's a big Newegg banner at the top of this site, click on that.

3) This is a case modding forum. You can modify your case to make it look like whatever you want. And don't say, "Well, I don't want/don't have the resources to do that." We are case modders. Of course we're going to tell you to mod a case. There's no such thing as a permanently ugly case, just people who are too lazy to make it look good.

gamekid said:

Ha! You make another "Help me find a case thread" that drives the modders with some knowledge away so we can't get their advice, and you're saving people...

gamekid said:
i dont want to burst ur bubble but what part of "i would rather have a pre-modded window" don't u understand?
Speaking of your other thread... you f'ing asshat. No need to be so rude to people who attempted to help you.

In conclusion: to everyone else who isn't an asshat and to the mods, sorry for being arse. To gamekid, go away.

Maybe it would help if you told us everything you hate about a case, and everything you want, so you don't have to get all pissed off at the people that are trying to help you...I think that if you're having such a hard time finding "your" case, then you should either make your own or just buy one and stick with it.

What about the Kingwin KT-424-BK-WM? It has a window, and looks a lot like the Praetorian from CoolerMaster. It's only $100 USD. I'd get one, if I could find one in Canada...

Wooo I'm a [H]Lite now! Woooo :)

Stop giving him advice. He started another thread with the same question since this one got out of hand when he started telling people thier cases were crap and ugly.

Edited for ur pleasure :) Sorry about the first post guys, this guy is killen me lol

Well i know what i think, ur prepubescent agnst either needs to be taken somewhere else or u can get off ur butt and mod something instead of complaining like a littlepoosay. I could take any of those cases and mod the sh1t out of them and turn them into something tighter then ud ever want. U need some skills, get off this forum and learn how to mod, its the only way ull ever be satisfied. Please stop complaining, there are no good looking stock cases out there except the coolermaster atc series ;) (shout out to my coolamasta homies).

Heres what you needs to learn.

1) Aww no window??? --- Put one in
2) Aww no 120 Fan holes??---Buy a drill and hole saw and put some in
2) Aww its a gay color?? --- Read up on the forums and learn how to paint \

Im done.

Mr,B Out !!!

Mr.B's post had a lot of good points, its just too bad Mr.B threw in all the launguage, or else I would have respected your post.

And to Gamekid, please stop opening threads to run away from your poor attitude. People have offered TONS of info in spite of your actions.

Please refer to the link someone provided that lists neweggs complete selection and browse your many options

The mod god has edited his previous post for ur viewing pleasure. :) ^^^^^^^^
