ok i have 5 questions that im a little unsure about...

1. Do projection TVs have input lag?

2. If not could i use one to test input lag using the DVI input.

3. Is there anyway i can test the input lag on my 20 inch LCD TV if it only has composite and component input?

4. would my 20 inch lcd tv (4:3 ratio SDTV) most likely have more input lag and ghosting then current 2ms TN panels with the best input lag?

5. Why is everyone so hyped about OLEDs??? when on digitalversus it says FEDs are better than OLEDs and AUO will be coming out with them as soon as 4Q 2010.

Thanks for any help =)

Rear projection TV's? I guess it depends, as there are various types: LCD, CRT, DLP.... I'd imagine that a CRT based RP TV would have no input lag, while an LCD based RP TV would have as much lag as any standard LCD TV.

ok thanks...i dont know if my rear projection is lcd or crt based tho...

You're right, it all depends and it can be def complicated. BUT CRT/DLP rptv's can have high input lag, if connected, or setup incorrectly (TV menu options) and certain LCD rptv are capable of having lower input lag if connected and setup correctly.

BUMP jesus christ nobody can answer these questions? they're simple yes or no questions.
Hehe, freaking out because of no replies?

ok but how comw the other guy said CRT/RPTV have no input lag and ur saying they have high lag? also how do i know weather my rear projection is LCD or crt based?

Tell us your TV's model number.
Why would you ever ask the OP to help you help him?

The nerve :D

Clarified my original post OP, i wasn't speaking in absolutes by the way, i was just pointing out that it doesn't matter what tech your using if it is setup incorrectly.

Providing both of your TV's model numbers would be a good start ;)

The model # is... RCA D56W20
CRT projection with DVI inputs. Strangely it's listed as a "monitor" and not a TV, which probably means it doesn't have a TV tuner built in (better for PC purposes).

It has a 1097 native horizontal resolution, it doesn't list the vertical resolution but it's probably around 620 since it's a 16:9 format (1097x620 give or take a couple of verticle lines). It might be able to accept and downconvert a 1280x720 resolution also.

Not sure what refresh rate you would use but i'd be hesitant to try higher than 60hz at first (i'm not responsible if something breaks!)

Looks like you're good to start testing, the CRT rear projection you have almost looks like it was built to have a PC attached to it, decent amount of lines of resolution, no tuner, DVI inputs etc, just not sure what refresh rate to use.
