I have been folding on my gpu for a little over a year. I was wondering, can I run the cpu client on the same pc while running the gpu client at the same time? If so, should I just use the "classic" standard cpu client? Also, how many ppd could I expect with my cpu and the regular cpu client?
 
Hi, what kind of processor is in your system? PPD varies a lot between client types. The standard uniprocessor client generally produces anywhere between 100-500 PPD per core depending on WU, CPU architecture, frequency, etc. If you want to use more than one core, you're probably better off with the SMP 2 client. If your system is recent, there's little reason to opt for the uniprocessor client unless you don't want to install an additional service.

I would be using a q9550, the pc that I listed in my sig.

It would be better to run the SMP2 client with that processor especially if you OC. PPD is higher with the SMP2 client even if you were to run mutliple standard clients. Whichever option you decide your production will definitely be better overall. Just make sure the different clients don't vie for CPU cycles or one of them will suffer performance losses.
 
You should be good running both.

I run a GPU client on a GTX285 (10,000 PPD) along with the SMP2 client on C2D E8400 (2-3K PPD). No sweat.
 
You should have no trouble running the SMP client alongside the GPU client. Just install the SMP client and go about your merry way. I ran my currently dead 8800GT along with the SMP client for a long time and had no trouble. Since you're running a single GPU client, there is no need to set affinity or lock the GPU client to any certain core like some people do with multiple GPU clients. I never bothered with it and it didn't affect my PPD other than the GPU client using some CPU cycles like it's supposed to do. In my case, it took away maybe 300PPD from the CPU client which is very little considering I gained 4-5k PPD from the GPU client.
