I'm upgrading my dell dimension 5150 from its pathetic 8mb of shared video memory, but i do not want to add extra noise to the quiet system. I was searching around on the internet and found a few 6600 pci-e cards like this one with passive cooling, but none of them have dual DVI. Is there a card that has dual DVI that is also passive cooled?

You could buy almost any card your heart desired and then put a zalman heatsink/fan on it cause those are quiet, or buy an aftermarket passive cooler such as this but you couldn't really overclock

I would suggest the Zalman VF700 Cu. It won't add any noise to a quiet system at its 5v setting and does and excellent job.

i guess its ok since i got a Gigabyte version, yes it does tend to run hot in game but still no artifacts so i guess its fine, if you are intending to OC then don't get it but i did get my 6600GT to 570/1290 stable so i guess its ok, but i wouldn't recommend you getting it if your are planning to OC.

Video Card fans don't make alot of noise... Unless you have a X850XT PE or 7800GTX or X1800XL.... The smaller midrange cards are normally very quiet because the fan ain't really that big.

The above card is cheap... Should be quiet.. and of course dual DVI.

just got that card in the mail, pop it in my dell, it makes the system 5 times noiser

so i unplugged its fan, took off the top plate on the heatsink and hopefully the card will be fine. i don't OC or play any games on that computer, it's mostly used for playing movies.

uhh, that isn't going to go well for the video card there buddy. get a aftermarket cooler now.

Probably not a good idea. I'd watch your temps like a hawk. You shoudl really plunk down the $30 for a zalman. As stated, at 5v, you wont hear it.

Accualy, the bigger the fan, the quieter it is, it has to spin less to generate the same airflow.

I just upgraded my video card with the Zalman VF700 Cu, and added two Vantec Stealth fans to my shuttle to replace the Vantec Tornado fan that my cousin modded it with. And i can say i dont hear a thing any more, but that could just be caused by bad hearing due to the tornado fan....but who will ever know.
