A bracket slit question.

I'm mounting a mobo on a sheet of acrylic and will be using standard mobo standoffs.
What is the best way to make the slits for the brackets of daughter cards in acrylic?
Am I just gonna have to drill holes in a line with a tiny drill bit? Do they make tiny tiny nano files?

I have though about just making the brackets hang off the end of the acrylic sheet but that
would take away from the clean look (and support?) I'm going after.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but to make small slits in acrylic, the best way would probably to use a cut-off wheel with a snake arm attachment on a dremel type tool.
 
I would just cut one long slit with the cutoff wheel. Or just have the metal peice hang over the tray.

Never thought about using the snake arm...but instead of the cutoff wheel I think I'll go with
one of those small wood carving bits.

Thats damned interesting...gives me an idea for a some fan placement.
 
Can I ask why you're using standard mobo standoffs? You could make like, hot-swappable ones, where no screwing is required. Just some poles with a washer around them some of the way down, that the board just slips over. That way, you can change it around/abuse it as often as you like. It's what I do when I do bench-tests.

Thats some "out of the box" thinking...I like it, but this isnt gonna be a test system and I would
bring this new main rig to lans about every 5 weeks or so. But its definately a cool idea that
I'll try to remember with other projects.
