9950X and 9950X3D is going to be terrific.

if the 9700X is faster than the 7800X3D in gaming (even by a few percentage points) combined with the much better productivity performance at maybe $75 more expensive, doesn't it make the 7700x the better overall CPU?...that's what AMD did with the 7700X versus the 5800X3D...the 9800X3D will surpass it for gaming but many people like a more balanced CPU

If it's only $75 more then yeah I would see no reason to pick a 7800X3D. Guess in the end it comes down to pricing?

7700x even at the high launch price was cheaper than the 5800x3d no ?

5800x3d was $430 when the 7700x ($400) launched, not sure why the 9700x would be more expensive than the really expensive 7800x3d and by that much.

Sure the 5800x3d had the big advantage of being AM4 which did let them charge a fortune for it and the 5950x, but wouldn't the 9700x launch at price close to $350 ?, $400 seem the max, that price did not stick at all last time but motherboard were expensive-ddr5-people did not had them and so on, so maybe it could work now but not if the 7800x3d goes down to $325

the pricing numbers are skewed because the 7800X3D is on deep sales right now...otherwise the difference between the 'normal' 7800X3D price and the rumored $400 price of the 9700X would be a lot closer

AMD X870E & X870 AM5 Motherboards to Launch on September 30th, USB4 Support & Upgraded Designs

Besides the USB4 support, the AMD AM5 X870E & X870 motherboards will also feature PCIe Gen5 support as a standard across both graphics and M.2 NVMe slots while supporting higher EXPO OC speeds, allowing users to take advantage of higher-clock speed DDR5 memory kits...

the reason why the launch date is so far away versus the Ryzen 9000 Desktop CPUs is simply because there is still a lot of 600-series inventory to clear out, mainly the B650 SKUs...Motherboard vendors are aiming to offer their existing AM5 products (X670/B650/A620) with some sweet price cuts down the road which should prompt more users to switch to the AM5 family once the Ryzen 9000 CPUs hit the market...
