Just built a new rig. 3500+, 1GB OCZ, no VC yet. I was wondering which (9800xt or 6800nu) would be a better performer OVERALL, not just in D3.

6800 nu still has all the 16 pipelines and that is alot better then having only 8 with 9800xt. Now I know 9800xt has 128 more of video memory than the 6800 but that does not add more power like the 8 extra pipelines do with the Nvidia card. My advice is to get 6800 over 9800xt because 6800 nu is 45 to 65% faster then 9800xt...

more like 15-30% faster. Its still a way better card and the card i would get ;)

i'd go with the 6800 but not a NU with your setup. At least get a GT or X800Pro

The non ultra only has 12 pipes enabled.

I'd get a 9700 and wait until you could afford a better card than either of these other two.

i went from ATi 9800 PRO to EVGA 6800NU to gainward GS 6800NU ... the NU's always whopped up the 9800's

I sold my 9800xt and bought a Leadtek 6800 for 299 from www.gameve.com well worth the swap. I can play all my games at full tilt without a problem. Plus the doom 3 performance over the 9800xt its atleast 35 to 45 % better
