My bet is this will be a folding monster for the price.

And with a die shrink I bet it OC nicely :cool:

Does anyone know when these monsters will hit retail? That die shrink will hopefully mean a little less power consumption too.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to be picking up a few of these once I get my raise:) I just can't wait to see what kind of OC people can get with them.
 
No kidding, I'm going to install them on all my empty PCIe slots as soon as they come out & I have the $ for all of them! I bet you that if you can get them to be stable at those speeds, it might come pretty close to a GTX280 for a LOT less $.

I'm sure they come with adapters, just make sure your PSU can do ~400 watt constant (a good 550-600 watt PSU should do)

Yeah you could probably get away with a solid 450-500 with 1 PCI-E and use an adapter for the other plug. Still a little pricey for my tastes, maybe some 8800GTS's or 8800GT's in your future instead? They should OC slightly worse but only require the single PCI-E plug. I doubt putting in new PSU's with the 9800's will be all that cost effective.



 
Yeah, good point. I'll have to see if I can scrounge up some connectors so I don't need to purchase new PSU's.
 
I am hoping to get one of these depending on my upcoming bonus (come on Monday!!!) I have an Antec truepower 650 watt psu right now. I figure that should be able to handle one of these bad boys right?

Their test rig in the link above was pulling 310 watts at peek. So with some extra fans and the like a PSU that can do 400 watt constant should do you fine.

most 400w psus arent efficient enough to deliver 310+w on a regular basis i dont think.
 
Yeah... I'll probably be snagging up two of these for my Gaming PC upgrade this summer. GTX260's look sexy but I just can't justify a $400 card when I can get two slightly slower cards for about the same price. Hopefully my 750W PSU can keep up with two folding 24/7.

This video card seems to offer a great myriad of paths to follow then. For the power/heat conscious there is the option to down clock this and still get good ppd but lower power usage. Then you could choose to use it at stock settings for a pretty well balanced ppdpw or with a little further overclocking you can get the output of about a $500 video card.

Article: We spent another couple hours overclocking the card and managed to get the NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ higher with full stability. We manged to get it up to 855MHz on the core, 2200MHz on the shaders and 2550MHz on the memory ICs by un-locking the core and shader frequency lock. This improved performance as you can see below. After doing these last few increases the overall score jumped up to 9,211 3DMarks, which ends up being a 16.7% performance increase! That score is just 500 points away form the GeForce 9800 GX2!

The price/performance ratio on this card puts it in a good position in my book. Come on June 30th (bonus day) and more importantly July 16th(release day)!
