9800 pro or 5900

im looking for a used card for like 100 bucks

i found a 5900xt OC for 90 bucks

whats the difference between the xt and the norm

i was just about to buy a 9800 flashed to xt for 110 and he just sold it

whast a better performer a 5900 xt or reg, or a 9800 pro

Go for 9800. There is very noticeable improvement in performance when playing more intensive games.

If you want to use your computer for more than just gaming, and don't want to spend the cash on a TV tuner card, then the AIW is a nice card. If, however, you're primarily intending to play games on your computer, then stick with a 9800Pro, though make sure it's got the 256 memory interface on it.

R350 = original 9800Pro
R360 = 9800XT

Newer 9800Pros (256bit/256MB ones) were R360's also I believe.

I don't really consider the 128bit cards to be 9800Pros . They are just a way to fool consumers into thinking they are getting a good card.

Wow, chronicbluntz420... Good job immediately making yourself out to be a !!!!!!. ATI won the last round of video cards, thats kind of a given. NVidia stumbled. They pulled it back together this gen, and ATI screwed up with the paper launch problem. But no, 9800s are not "ATI crap". Lay off the weed and read a little bit.

In my unbiased opinion, I use whatever makes me happy. ATi, nVidia, whatever...

Last year I bought a BFG 5900 OC and wasent satisfied and returned it for a 9800 Pro, not knowing really anyting about either one. I was VERY pleased with the results and didn't get anything new until last week when I got my X800XT.

Just my 2 cents.

As the others have said, ATI dominated the last gen of cards. Now it is pretty even. (nvidia has sli and ati has the x800xl)

Sorry I just noticed this thread. On nvdia, XT means "worst of the class" while on ati, XT means "best of the class." 5900XT performs the worst of any 5900 class card. 9800 Pro outperforms the 5900XT. Just go to Toms Hardware and look at their VGA Charts Part IV. And it's like the other poster said, if you get a 256 bit 9800 pro, you should be able to flash it to a 9800XT.
