It happens in all of my games and in Windows. I am running

P4 2.26
512 DDR RAM 2700
4.8 Beta Drivers (its happened since 3.9 Drivers)
DX9c
Windows XP Pro

I recently formatted due to malware/spyware problems and it happened before and still happens now. Before i thought it might be overheat and i bought a "turbine" fan that takes up the pci slot under my radeon to help cooling but it still happens

cs does that at times
or its overheating
test it on another game

Turn down your memory speed, it appears to be artifacting from your RAM being too high.

yeah that looks like either bad memory or memory thats too hot, i had to rma an old gf4 because of bad memory that caused the same looking checkerboard pattern at stock speeds

My old 9700 pro did that about 6 months ago.
I could never get it to stop so I replaced it with a 9800 pro.

If anyone out there thinks they can save the old 9700 pro or use it for parts then let me know. I hate to throw things away.
