I tend to compare the 9800np to the 5900nu, ATI doesn't have a product that compares the 5900SE. It's faster then a 9600XT but slower then the 9800np so I would get the 9800np. They're around $250 USD now and the 5900SE is around $185. Maybe you should get a 9700Pro, I hear that the prices are hovering around $210 now.

If midrange cards are what your looking at then get the 5900SE from newegg with Call of Duty. If you want higher performance get the 9800Pro for $250 (either find in on sale for that price or trade in a crappy vid card to ATI).
 
I live in Canada and Nvidia doesn't like us.

I can get the 5900SE Retail for 289 CAD or the Powercolor 9800SE (which is actually a NP not a SE) for 269 CAD; however it's OEM....

You want to risk buying refurb from Newegg it's your money. No way in hell I am after hearing some of the horror stories.

PowerColor only makes 3 versions of the 9800. Considering the 9800SE version goes for $177 here in the states I HIGHLY doubt it is a NP.
 
No, the 9800np has 8 pipelines, not 4. So, if it's between the 5900 and the 9800SE, then I would definitely go with the 5900. My friend has a 4-pipeline, and trust me, it's not what you're looking for.

Dude thats a regular SE card, 9800np have 8 pipelines. Try finding a 9700Pro or hitting up ebay, that is if dare.....:)

Then what are the SE cards with the 128 bit interface?

And usually if the card has the "L" RAM it can have it's remaining four pipelines unlocked...

From what I hear there's a 50/50 chance of unlocking it. Considering the performance difference, those odds aren't good enough for me.

I agree. DO NOT buy a "refurbished" product from NewEgg. They are not refurbished at all but are simply product returns that have not been inspected.
