8800GTX in a Qpack?

I hope so,...I don't want to spend a gazillion bizillion dfhgjrtsillion dollars on one only to find it doesn't... :D

probabley...but how are you gonna fit a psu in it that is powerful enough for the card and a decent system ?

Yeah...just look at the sig...I've got quite a few ponies under the hood of that Qpack of mine...I think it'll hold up.

Actually, I take that back. Brainfart thinking the X-Qpack was the same size! I answered this before and I don't think it will fit:
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1109049&highlight=microfly

However, I think I based that assumption on the PCI-E connector coming out the end, so it might.

Well, without tearing apart my machine to measure...it looks like through the window that I've got an easy 3" maybe 4" from the end of my X1900XTX to the front of the case...take away 1" for cabling... dunno...we'll see...

It's rather funny the video card will run the length of your entire case.

8800 GTX in a QPack, the perfect radient heat source for winter time! If you buy now, we'll throw in this bonus skillet free to cook omlettes on your super duper Qpack with.

I think the X1900 XTX is around 9 inches and the GTX is 11 inches and the GTS is 9 inches. If the GTX is too big, save yourself a a few bucks and get a GTS instead - not like it'll make a difference with current games at this point. By the time you really need to upgrade you'll probably be able to run those in SLI. :D Correct me if I'm wrong.

Someone posted earlier the GTX was 9". I don't think you have 3-4" in the X-Qpack, because I only have 3 1/2, not including the PCI-E connector and I think the JPac/Microfly cases are 1 1/2 longer. I'll try to measure when I get home to give you a final guestimation.

My system is an awesome room heater! :D

No, the XTX is 9" as well as the GTS...the GTX is 11"...I think it's gonna fit...tight but, it'll fit...I'll make it fit...

Oh ya, I failed!

On another note, the GTS looks like it's set to replace the 7900GTX so you'd better hope it does. Looks like there will be an 8800GT somewhere in the middle of that, though.

Well...I just sold my X1900XTX on the forums so...I should be ready for the 8800GTX just as soon as they hit the e-tailers...here's hoping that it fits....

X1900XTX = ~9"
8800GTX = ~11"
Jpac Length = 15"
Jpac interior = 13"
X-Qpack Length = 14"
X-Qpack interior = 12"???

Jpac interior - 8800GTX = 2" to spare

So you will be fine.

I'm resisting the urge to make a crack about some other lengths... :D

At the worst, you might have to chop a little bit of flimsy Qpack aluminum to get it to fit.

I figured that I'd ask here instead of starting a new thread asking roughly the same question, but instead of a Q-Pack, if the GTX will fit the Silverstone SUGO case?
I ask due to the orientation of the drives in the SUGO mount across the front. Since I know the card is roughly 11" I'm going to have to break out a ruler tonight to see if I can fit it.

My MCR220 Quiet Power is 11.2 inches and you can see in the photo below all the room I still have. (BTW that card is a BFG 6800GTOC)

I'm planning on getting an 8800GTX for my microfly, looks ok clearance wise, however, there may be some interference from the SATA ports on my tforce 939. Might have to get some right angle cables, but I /think/ (hope) that it is gonna clear.

Lengthwise the 8800GTX will fit,

However, break out the dremel because the PCI express connectors are mounted on the side of the card pointing right straight up at the 5.25 drive bays.

I wonder if the GTS would fit width-wise (side to side) in my modded X-Qpack (modded to take ATX motherboards). I would have barely been able to fit a 7950GX2, so if they're similar sizes I should be able to do it later on (once I have recovered my wallet from spending money on the Nintendo Wii + games/etc.).

bump --- I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to this either

Well, I got my 8800GTX crammed into my microfly!

The power connectors do touch the drive bay, but I managed to slide it in. Next time I have the whole thing apart, I will probably mod the 5.25 cage

Good to know...think you could slip us a pic? might be easier for those of us that follow to mod beforehand...

I would, but my camera was stolen a few weeks ago, replacement will be in next week, and I'll take some pics. Should be a simple mod, just take some of the bottom, and some of the side of the drive bay. It will fit easy with out the plugs in so it should be simple to measure.

(This is on a Biostar 939, btw)

Ultra + DFI = EW
550W + 8800GTX + DFI + ULTRA = not good idea i think personally.

I have a Micro Fly and tried fitting the 8800GTX also - the PCI-E connectors interfere with the drive cage.

I could make it fit by pressing the top edge of the plastic power connectors just under the lower edge of the drive cage - it's very tight and forces the end of the 8800GTX board down and to the side slightly.

I plan to mod the drive cage by cutting out a small section so as to leave room for the power connectors with no pressure on the board.

Here are the actual sizes

"The BFGTech GeForce 8800 GTS is exactly the same length, width and depth as the ATI Radeon X1950 XTX. The length comes out to 8.75 inches, the height at 3.75 inches and the width at 1.25 inches. The BFGTech GeForce 8800 GTX has the same height and width but exceeds the length of both at almost 10.5 inches long. The 8800 GTX is the same length as a RatpadzGS, which is roughly 1” shorter than a UPS Next Day Air envelope if you are looking for something to wedge into your case and see if your chassis is suitable for the GTX."

Yeah, mine has very slight pressure, but the flat cables on the ultra psu let me put the cage just on the plasticpart of the connector, so it isnt that much at all. Hell, I could probably shave the connctors and make it clear.

If it doesn't fit... make it fit, cut out part of the bloody front of the case so the rest of the card will stick out of the case and just let it be free. :p :D That would seriously be funny.

I'd like to see pics of the 8800GTX in the Microfly too - I have just ordered the Microfly and have not decided between the GTX and the GTS yet.

I am still waiting for a decent mATX C2D board to come out too :-(

Here is a list of parts that I have put together so far:

EDIT looks like there are some pics here: http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1030254597&postcount=32

The drive bay has been dremelled to fit the 8800GTX.

So i guess that I can't have a GTX with both optical drive bays occupied :-(

Sorry to drag up such an old thread, but I am looking at getting a GTS or GTX for my modded ATX-using X-Qpack, which orients the cards instead of the default "back to front" (when looking at the drive bezels on the side of the case the eject button on an optical drive would be) to a "left to right" orientation. I have about 9 inches of clearance to comfortably fit a video card with my modded setup's layout (the actual clearance is about 9.3", but any card would need/want a little breathing room to not make contact on anything). So, two questions:

1) Will a GTX even fit? I hear they're 10.5 inches length-wise (is this from the back tip of the bracket, or the PCB itself?). In this case, it wouldn't come close to fitting.

2) Would a GTS fit? They're supposed to be 8.5-9.0 inches in length (I've heard conflicting numbers), and I don't know what the measurement point is from (back of PCB? back of bracket? back of tip of bracket where it angles to be perpendicular?).

Thanks for any info you guys can provide :)!

Think you answered your own questions. No and yes. ;) Only you are going to know for sure, if it's modded.

GTS is a ripoff though. Get an 256MB X1900XT for now and wait until summer when the first DX10 games come out. Maybe then it will be down around a reasonable price and R600 or the second-tier card may be short enough for your needs.

Yeah, I think the GTS will fit but not the GTX. Why would you call the GTS a "ripoff", though? Does it really lag behind the GTX that much overall? I've seen some benches from firingsquad/anandtech showing it being pretty good in some games, and really cruddy in others. If it's really a mixed bag like that, I may hold off selling my 7900GT to help pay for one. I'm just worried about a sharp decline in value if I wait so long, though I guess I'll be able to save up more money by that kind of wait anyway ;) :). What are your thoughts? Really, to be quite frank, the 7900GT handles my needs just fine. I just am mainly worried about Vista stuff and resell value.
