8800GTS temps

Heh, nope. I'm just awesome....you see, I realize that you people think that you have to buy these expensive ass ($150+) cases (i.e. fatality case, antec p180's, etc.) to achieve maximum cooling capacity. This is infact not true, I spent a small ($30) amount of money on my case but I maximized the value by looking at placement and number of fans. I have 1 single 120mm fan as exhaust, and 2 side intake (1x80mm and 1x120mm) fans and it's a decent looking case as well. This is all on stock air cooling that I have achieved these numbers. For my CPU I plan to get a Scythe and that will be the maximum extent of my purchase for cooling...simply because the stock intel coolers really suck, I am thoroughly amazed that I've gotten the clock that I have (stable) out of my current cooler. And for the record I live in Texas, and those who live in texas know just how hot it gets down here.

I don't think you need an expensive-ass case. The one I have right now might be around $100, don't remember how much it was when I bought it, but I've had it for a few years now. Actually I bought a $40 case with a $40 MIR and I switched my old computer into that one and kept this case :D

I understand the point you're trying to make, but it took you like a week to make it? You came on here and said "I get this temp" then showed a pic that I'm not sure everyone believed, then said "no ones talking shit about my temps anymore"..... ok.

I have my fan on my 8800GTS runningat 90% (because 100% sounds like a vacuum to me), and I've seen it as low as 52C idle. BUT that's with the fan up high, a 120mm fan inside my case blowing on it and out the back where there are 2 open slots on my case, and when it was cooler out. I live where it's hot too, Mexico, so I don't think I will ever see my 8800GTS at ~40C.

So you do that with a 120mm and 80mm case fans huh? That's amazing... I don't think some people with $50 coolers on their 8800GTS's get that good of cooling sometimes...

Took me a week to make it because for some stupid frickin reason my subscription to the thread didn't exist anymore and I had to find it by searching for it. And I do it with a total of 2x120mm and 1x80mm case fans...1 120 is exhaust the other 2 are side intakes.

FWIW, mine idles around 47C and ATI Tool or RTHDRIBL gets it up to 61C. I keep my AC at 76-77F. I have the squirrel cage fan set to hit 90% at 58C and 100% at 62C. I have a 120mm fan blowing directly at the squirrel cage (parallel to the card) and my side panel, is open mesh.

Ok, I'll hand it to you, those are unbelievable temps; that's cool. KUDOs and all that.

My goal is to have a silent system (mission accomplished); even the zalman cooler you have on there makes too much noise for me (thermaltake BT for me); so to me the (what I consider normal and non-harmful) temps my card runs at at fan speed of 59% and a 120mm fan blowing across the card and another at the back of the case (and 1 air hole too) on low are all the tweaking I'm gonna do.

Still, what you have is [H]ard, so good job! :D

Just curious, what are your guys' idle/load temps for a 640 8800GTS? I have an evga (stock speeds atm), and I'm concerned about upping the clocks because of my temperatures. nVidia monitor gives me 65C idle and this doesn't seem good. My system is at 34 and cpu is at 39. I'm not totally sure about load temps but its at least 75C. Do GTS's usually run this warm? Am I OK in upping it to the SC'd clock speeds?
My situation is similar to yours. Mine idles around 66C and at load it hits about 78C at stock clocks. Fan speed ramps up automatically. Running AC does lower the temps by 3-4 degrees. These temps are a bit warm, but I've seen no issues while gaming.

My overclocked 7900GT (550/1600) had similar temps with a Zalman VF700-Cu installed using the 5v connector. I guess I prefer warmer/quieter over cooler/louder.

Well since everyone seems to be going nuts about temps in here ill post mine.

46c idle, never gone over 60 under load (im pretty sure) , stock heatsink, didn't even put on AS5 and using atitool for temps.

Then again im still at stock speeds. One question if ya don't mind, should i put as5 on before i overclock this card and what other mods/changes should i make? Also, a good temp idle and temp max would be...?
