8800GT vs 9800GTX

Ok, so I almost have a list for my first custom build PC, but I am stuck on picking a GPU. I will probably be playing on a 22" possibly a 24" monitor. No SLI. Games such as Crysis, CoD4, Bioshock, etc.
I would be willing to spend the extra $100 or so on the 9800GTX providing there is a noticeable amount of improvement over the 8800GT. I am also interested in knowing which would last longer, or would they stay pretty close as to when they begin "phasing out" to newer technology?
I will be running an Intel C2Q Q6600. Let me know if you need any other system info.

true architectural upgrades to the g80/g92 based gpu's are expected to arrive this summer.
 
22"+, gonna have to say 9800GTX. The pricepoint is great and you will benefit immensely from the extra shaders and clockspeeds. You will also be able to utilize the nvidia purevideo enhancements from the 9 series cards.
 
The 8800GTS 512mb for $200~ AR seems like the sweet spot to me right now. It has a better cooling solution than the gt and it runs a little faster. Don't have one myself, but supposedly excellent at the 22" monitor range. At 24"+, you might wanna consider something a bit better.

I guess the question I have for you is what resolution will you be playing at?
 
Thanks for the responses - yea I had been planning on an 8800, but the 9800GTX's price just seems too nice to not go ahead and get it.

Kind of a "noobish" question, but would the 9800GTX work with this mobo? Just wanna be sure before I move any further :)

Last I read, those enhancements will be updated to the 8800 cards as well (software).
 
At 22 inch I'd go for the 9800 GTX. Their now $299 and the GT is $200 so for $100 more go for the GTX it would give you more eye candy on the 22 inch :)

Yes it will. What Power Supply do you have or going to get?
