850pro to 7800gs?

I'm thinking about upgrading this video card but then again there is the 850xt pe flash. Should i save the money and flash it? or get the 7800gs how much performance is there between the 850pro and 850xt pe flash compared to the 7800gs?
 
Well... I guess if you like speing 300$ on a 5-10% performance increase go for it.

werd its not worth it esp for that small of a performance gain, save up for pci-e or for a bigger upgrade ;)
 
Don't do it. Save the money for when all the crap changes later this year (DX10).
 
Just flash. The only reason I'm going to 7800GS is because my step-up is worth $200 and it expires next week. Save your money.

"That pretty much makes the 7800 GS king of the AGP upgrade market—but if you cast off your Radeon X850 XT in favor of one of these, you need your head examined. The X850 XT may lack a few bullet-point features, but it's clearly the same class of graphics card."

Even if you weren't able to flash, the 7800GS is a crippled 7800GT... probably not very huge performance gains over an X850PRO anyway.
 
Ya, its already been said but ill put my two cents in becuase i have a x800pro flashed to xt
So yes, save your money. Im sure you can upgrade your system another way. I got a Zalman CNPS9500-Cu-LED. $300-$350 is a lot, you have to be hardcore Quake 4/Doom 3 fan for that upgrade to make any sense.
 
7800gs is an awesome card. stock, it's on par or slower than an x850xt. overclocked, it's another story. didn't they get it up to something like 500mhz/ 1.45? vs stock: 350/1.2

yea but the performance gain over the x850xt isnt enough to justify the extra $$$
 
Agreed, this would not be an upgrade but rather a sidegrade. Complete waste of cash IMO.
