Hmmm.. Heres my opinion. Skimp out on the z68 board and get a p67 board that is around 100 and no more. Please get a 77xx, 78xx (preferably). I used to have a 460 1GB OC and it struggled playing at max on that same resolution. So I could only imagine it will struggle on that rig.

You're planning the build way too soon. Our parts recommendations tends to change monthly and sometimes even weekly. In addition, there's a bunch of new parts coming out during that time frame so that's definitely gonna influence what parts we recommend.

With that said, two of the parts you selected aren't good even if you were buying this week: AsRock and Zotac aren't known for quality parts. Go for an Asus, Gigabyte, or MSI motherboard or video card.

The minimum you should go for is a 500GB drive as a majority of 250GB drives are so slow and old that they'll severly limit the performance of the PC to the point that you might just as well buy a Celeron. 500GB drives are generally newer designs and models that are fairly fast.

Yeah,man I know Trinity,Ivy Bridge and other members of Kepler are inbound soon.But I just want to have a rough sketch now which things I should look for and which not.Strictly speaking I'm tired of gaming on my friends PC and now I want my own rig.But I'm still a student soo u know I'm pretty tight on my budget.

I opted for 250 gb cuz it helped cut down costs to spend over the mobo.Also I get every of my soft,game recorded on DVDs.if I need more space I could buy xternal ones.But I didn't know about the performance related thing u mentioned for 250 gb.Okay I'll get a 500 gb then.But I hear seagate's quality is falling,WD may be a choice then but only the price.

Well like I said, the release of those new parts may change what we recommend. So even a rough sketch isn't too helpful. Please come back when you're no more than 2-3 weeks away from buying the PC. That will be your best bet for an up-to-date build list.

Not really. It's actually been WD that's been dropping in quality judging from the Newegg reviews of WD's green drives.

Since you won't be transcoding videos, or be using a SSD as a cache the Z68 is pretty worthless.

I own a Zotac and hate it. MSI gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Here in the states, I can find P67 for $60 when they throw one day sales. Even Biostar works well here. ASRock and Zotac are at the bottom of my list.

I read there's an excessive amount of head parking with the green series to save juice, and that the head mechanism isn't rated that high in terms of total parks.

I had a WD Black fail on me in 3 months in a HTPC setup in RAID 0. The motor died. I had a samsung (aka Seagate) 2.5 external backup drive fail after a 2" drop to carpet. The spindle fell out and the drive would no longer spin. That is completely unacceptable.

I read that seagate drives have problems with the spindles axels coming out of place as they aren't secured on both ends.

Hitachi Deskstars are supposed to be excellent quality which is irony given IBM permenantly ruined the brand recognition with the glass plater Deathstar series. No one is willing to give them a serious look any more because of IBM's botchery.
