Hey everybody, I'm looking to sell the computer in my sig and rebuild. The one in the sig runs quite hot, especially because of the crossfire, and my room is pretty warm to begin with, so I want to put together a new build that can run the same games without putting out so much heat (or noise, for that matter). I'm currently playing Rift and SC2, might be playing Battlefield 3 when it comes out.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, web browsing, movies.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$800, give or take about $50. Shipping and tax included, preferrably

3) Where do you live?
Washington State, near Seattle.

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Case, power supply, motherboard, cpu, ram, dvd drive, video card. I would prefer an Intel CPU and Nvidia card, though a Radeon would be alright, if the card has more value/performance.

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Hard drives, Operating system.

6) Will you be overclocking?
Maybe at some point, but not immediately

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Using a 22" with a 1680x1050 res. Possibly moving up to a 1920x1080 monitor in the future.

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Whenever I can sell the build in my sig! :p

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
USB 3.0, Sata 6Gb/s, SLI and/or crossfire.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Windows 7, 64bit

Alternative ideas:
I would think a single 4870 would be sufficient at 1680x1050. Pull one out to reduce heat and noise. Reduce your CPU overclock for the summer. Get a SSD for your OS and important programs and a Green drive for storage.

Most of your parts are still very good. I bet simply replacing the two 4870's with a GTX 570/580 or a HD 6970 would cut down on heat by quite a bit. Your two cards might even be worth close to what a new card costs.
 
Yeah I've been trying to sell the 4870s for $160 for both, but no one seems to want to buy them. I would love to get a 570, even a 560. I might pull out one of those cards for now, though.

Oh, and I'm actually running the CPU at stock right now.

Which specific (brand/model) hard drives? Which edition of Windows? Is your copy of Windows an OEM version or a retail version? If OEM, is the license key unused/unactivated?

5) Man, it's been a while, but the HDs I'm using are a Seagate 500gb (caviar I believe), and a WD 80gb raptor drive.

New monitor: no plans for now, so no specific time frame. Ignore that, I suppose.

I apologize for the timeline, I'm looking at parts now, unless you know of some incredible deals that are coming up soon?

Yeah Caviar is part of Western Digital's hard drive lineup, not Seagate. In addition, is that Raptor drive a Velociraptor drive or a regular Raptor drive?
