Building this for a friend if he decides to go with home built instead of getting a dell or something. He'll need a monitor as well. I could supply him with a basic keyboard/mouse if need be. Looking at getting the parts online or some at our local MC.
Thanks

That's it I'm updating that questionnaire.

Is the monitor included in that $800 budget?

Finally looool. That question is such a bastard. Also add something about they keyboard/mouse (maybe like a peripherals question: "Do you need any peripherals such as a mouse, keyboard, wireless adapter, or anything like this?").
And yeh OP, monitor included?

I'm going to help you, up to a point. Here's the point:

$130 - Acer X203Hbd 20" 1600x900 monitor (free shipping)
$26 - Logitech Internet 350 USB wired keyboard/mouse combo (free shipping)
$66 - Antec Three Hundred case & LG GH22NP20 IDE DVD burner combo (free shipping on both)
$50 - Corsair CX400 400W PSU (free shipping & $20 MIR)
$70 - MSI 760GM-E51 AM3 microATX board (+$3 shipping)
$139 - AMD Athlon II X2 245 processor & XFX HD-567X-YNFC Radeon HD 5670 video card combo (free shipping on both)
$55 - Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB HDD (free shipping)
$96 - GeIL 2x2GB DDR3 1333 dual-channel RAM kit (free shipping)
=====
$632 - Subtotal (not including shipping, taxes, or rebates)

As you can see, there are no speakers/headphones, wireless (internal or external) adapters, or case fans. If you want them, pick out your own.

I've also left you some room (budget-wise) to upgrade some of the components; I'll let you figure out which components to upgrade.

Before you ask, all of the cables and screws that you need are provided by the retail motherboard and/or case packaging. IIRC, the monitor only comes with an analog VGA cable; you may want to add a digital DVI cable to your shopping cart.

I refuse to go through Micro Center's site just to find similar deals. If you go the MC route, know that MC won't have some of the parts listed above (the board and memory, in particular, aren't likely to be available at MC). MC does have a price matching program, but it varies from store to store. Contact yours prior to going there to see what they're willing to price-match (against NewEgg).

Newegg doesn't charge tax to MN AFAIK. The extra $23 is well worth it.

Alright thanks for your help guys. Looks good. I'll try to convince him not to get a dell/hp. ;)
