My Gigabyte P35-DS3R recently crapped out on me and so I'm shopping for a new motherboard. However, I've noticed that most boards nowadays have an 8 pin CPU connector, whereas my PSU only has a 4 pin. It's a 485 watt Enermax and it's always delivered steady voltage on all of my rails, and so far I've been very satisfied with it.

What I'm getting at is - do I need to buy a new PSU to use a new motherboard or is there some way to get around it?

Some motherboards can boot and run just fine with the 4Pin connector. Though many motherboards recommend an 8Pin connector just in case. Read the motherboard manual to see what it is possible and what is recommended.
